Sooner Stampeders!
Which way do I gooooo!?
We was out again, got the fun downhill cleared of some leaves, also added some more signage and traction.
Notice the colors. Orange for Cat 1 and 2 BIG lap, pink for Beginner and white for P-Log lap (for the Cat 1s). Once again pink lap is also the third lap for ALL Cat 1s.
See I got a picture this time.
Similar signs are placed along the courses. This pic is at the last split where Beginners turn to the fire road and Cat 1/2s finish their big lap/s.
Tell your roadie friends this is gonna be perfect for them. Have I mentioned, this course is FAST. Like Formula 1 fast! No lies have been spoken!

Sooner Stampede notice-
If you raced the Rural Fervor (RF) course, here is the section that is different.
Everyone will do the added short (1/4 mile??) section at the east end of "Old Plaid". If you couldn't make RF then this won't matter to you. Because everyone is now riding this. 😉
The blue STRAVA route shown below is the big loop (orange ribbons), about 9 miles, while the red STRAVA loop is the Cat 3/P-Log loop (pink ribbons) about 3.75 miles.
Notice there are a few sections where they merge and then split.
They will be marked, I promise!
FYI - Jonathan Clark told me yesterday even a blind man could follow the course already. Coming from a dude with a bionic eye, it gave me some warm fuzzy's! 🧐
Race day is getting close, temps look awesome, maybe a little windy, but we're in Oklahoma, when is it not windy!?
Tour de Dirt
Not sure if I shared this today but here ya go. Someone asked me if all groups are doing the beginner loop. NO, NOT ALL CATEGORIES ARE DOING THE BEGINNER/CAT 1 POST-LOGUE LOOP. 😁😁
Only beginners, and only Cat 1's on their 3rd lap.
The Cat 1's will NOT be doing three big laps. They will do two big laps, and one small lap. This goes for ALL CAT 1 age groups.
If you're a CAT 1, aged 19 to 99 you will do two big laps and one small lap.
I hope this helps.
Race update:
I was out at the trail this morning, raking a few leaves from the "gutters". The end section of the Cat 3/Cat 1 POST-Logue lap should be fast-er now. This is the section from the last fire road to the exit on the fire road.
Cat 1's - I think we will have you do the short lap LAST, which will help prevent possibly excessive traffic with late Cat 3s, as well as alleviate a start section fiasco with the Cat 2's. So plan to do two BIG laps first, then the Cat 3 lap for your third lap.
Cat 2's you shall not follow pink ribbons unless paired with orange ribbons. You will ONLY do two BIG laps (orange tape).
There will be more signage placed this week, just in case there are folks unable to pre-ride.
(note to self: take trail pics)
Sooner Stampeders! Updates below....
There has been some additional marking of the course as of today. Expect more signage in the next couple days also.
Although I believe each course is easy to follow, I will be adding enough markings that the only way you could get lost is if you rode with your eyes closed. Don't do that!
The flyer and registration times are current and should actually match now, plan accordingly.
If anyone is wondering..."will there be food on site?"🤔🤔 Yes.
Due to a bit of a snafu with our food vendors and licensing, we have decided to go with a semi-pro barbeque-ist (I dont think that is a word) to work his grill.
So fret not about your post race hunger, we got you covered. Donations will be accepted. Again, don't fret, just bring some cash or one of those QR scanner things and/or a digitized money app. 🌭
Liquid refreshments (adult) are being graciously provided by Lazy Circles Brewing , thank you! 🍻 We'll have some water and sodas available also.
Oh, did I mention, the course is FAST!
Hit us up if you have questions or see anything not quite right.

Who's waiting for a better time to sign up? 🤔🤔
Get 'er done before price goes up Monday. But it's only a $5 increase. Easy money for all the S-Works drivers though! 🤣🤣
But don't worry, we'll have registration available until 40 minutes before your race using one of those QR code thingies. Expect another small increase for day of registration though.
Sorry, we won't be able to be doing the paper thing, no cash or paper to be found under the big top tent.
Bring your flip phone and a buddy with an iPad and you too can still race!
I'll be at Thunderbird today doing some riding and course marking.
See ya at the race/s!
I forgot to mention...NO LICENSE IS REQUIRED...just need to get a season plate and registration done!! Woot woot!

Now that Mother Nature is no longer mad at us, we can expect mostly sunny skies, a LITTLE bit of wind, and great temps for pre-rides and racing.
March 23rd is shaping up to be a great day, so plan to come out to the Sooner Stampede. We can expect a slight breeze (18mph is nothing now RIGHT?) to keep us cool while chasing each other through the trees.
Don't worry too much about who's signed up, or who isn't, because when you sign up, that's all that matters!
The grass as been cut for the sprint finish, for the beginner riders, and the rest of the trail is already been/being cleared of the big dead-fall. Thanks to Corey White for a few hours of trail riding and pushing sticks out of the way!!
and this should be a fast one!

Spread the word! You know you want some of this. Bring (drag) family and//or friends out to give you handups. Water would be best, but to each their own. This isn't CX, its XC!!
HOWEVER,,,, you could ride that Crux on this course! it's almost that smoove!
Get ready to play in the dirt!
With the exception of, what did the weather people call it, weather bomb?, bomb cyclone?, weather adventure?, a little bit of wind this weekend, it looks like the trail will be drying fantastically for the upcoming Sooner Stampede!
Plan for a fast flowy course.
We removed almost all the rocks. We gave them to the guys in Medicine Park for their Fools Dozen race, which just happens to be the next race in TdD series. They are only borrowing them they said. They promised to return them before their race.
I've got some grass cutting to do at the finish of the Novice course but otherwise the courses should be marked.
If you have ???s contact Jon Denton for answers.
