Many clients come to me with feelings of shame, embarrassment, overwhelm. They have years of memories and life built up in their home and I’ll be honest, it's not always pretty.
However, I'm here to meet you where you are, not judge you for what you have or haven't been holding on to.
Which is why this is a special post for me. As much as I love sorting and organizing, I have my own set of struggles when it comes to going through certain things. My basement has become my catch-all in the last couple years. There are a lot of ‘I don't know what to do with this right now’ and ‘I wouldn't pick this out but it's from my dead relative’ items, so there they live.
I'm often asked ‘Is this the worst you've ever seen?’ The thing about that question is, I've been asked it from opposing ends of the spectrum, if you’re a hardcore minimalist or have lived in the same home for generations and have hoarding tendencies.
We all have different starting lines and this was where mine was. The only way through it is through it (unless you decide to toss it all). One thing at a time. Sometimes there’s extra overwhelm in a moment, sometimes you have to sit down and look through old Polly Pockets.
If it all feels like too much, you know who to call.

Raise your hand if you have the 'too clean to wash and too dirty to put away' pile?
Or perhaps the 'too inconvenient to do it right now' chair?
Try creating a space where the clothes can be out of the way and maybe not as much of an eyesore until its time to actually wash them or put them away.

This isn't a cleaning problem.
If you notice you're cleaning the same space over and over again:
- You're not unmotivated.
- You're not lazy.
- You're not a mess.
You might have too much stuff and too few systems.
Less stuff = less cleaning.
More systems = easier cleaning.
When everything has a place (and there’s not too much of it), maintaining your home gets so much easier.✨

There are so many tricks and methods to help you declutter. It's not one size fits all, we all think, feel and move differently. Find which method helps you declutter and go with it!
5-5-5 Rule: Simple, quick, doable.
1% Rule: You don’t need to organize your whole home today. Just get 1 PERCENT better. Consistency OVER perfection.

Week 4: Miscellaneous.
That's right, everything else. If you see it and it doesn't spark joy, or you don't use it, let it go. Leave a box or bag in different rooms or floors of your home and see if you can fill it by the end of the week or month.
Adults outgrow things too, it's just harder to recognize it.
