Rise Up Hoops Memorial Day was such an incredible day. Hundreds of kids that got to hoop, fall in love with the game, get a meal, have their hair cut and be led by former college players, coaches and staff.

But above all they heard the gospel, they became apart of a family that is changing the lives of Low Country kids. A multitude of kids gave their lives to Christ that day.

I feel incredibly blessed God would see fit to use the game I love to serve our community and make His name famous.

If you’re interested in partnering with us or volunteering we’d love to talk to you. 843-743-9580

Huge shout out to Eric Cota for the video and all the barbers, coaches and volunteers that made this day a success.

Rise Up Hoops camp today was truly phenomenal. To date, this was our biggest camp yet, with 140+ kids packed into the gym, and to run a basketball camp of that size smoothly is no small feat. We’re incredibly grateful because God’s hand was all over today from start to finish.

Kids competed, got better, built relationships, and most importantly, lives were impacted. We had a large number of young people make decisions to give their lives to Christ, and moments like that remind us why we do this in the first place.

We are so thankful for every single person who came out to serve alongside these Lowcountry youth. Thank you to all the coaches, volunteers, FCA, the incredible people working in the kitchen, and the barbers who gave their time and energy to love on these kids. We truly could not have done it without you.

So many lives are being changed, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to provide these young people with something positive, uplifting, and safe. We’re continuing to pray and work toward partnering with the Town of Summerville along with Berkeley and Dorchester County to keep reaching youth throughout the Lowcountry in an even greater way. If you have contacts with the city or county please contact me.

Today was bigger than basketball. It was community. It was purpose. It was ministry. And above all, all glory goes to God.

We’re honestly overwhelmed with gratitude watching what Rise Up Hoops has grown into. What started as a vision God gave us has turned into something far bigger than we ever imagined.

Every single week, hundreds of kids walk through the doors of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church - The Grove

And in light of the recent violence happening around Summerville and throughout the Lowcountry, we’re realizing more than ever just how badly this generation needs strong men of God willing to stand in the gap.

Some of these young teens come from difficult situations. Some are carrying things most couldn’t imagine or simply don’t have consistent male role models speaking life into them.

That’s where you come in.

If you love basketball, incredible. If not, that’s okay too. We need men willing to mentor, encourage, pray, build relationships, and simply show up consistently.

You do not have to be perfect.
You just have to be available.

Wednesday Nights
6 PM – 8 PM

This morning is heavy. As most of you have heard, there was a shooting at Cane Bay. One of my boys basketball players and a kid heavily involved with Rise Up Hoops had his brother shot five times.

Moments like this remind us why reaching our youth matters so much.

A lot of these kids are carrying pain, trauma, anger, pressure, and things most people never see. Most of the kids we reach would never step into a traditional youth group setting, and many of them don’t know Jesus. That’s why the opportunity for real life change is so huge.

God has opened a door through basketball. Kids come to play ball, get fed, build relationships, and hear about Jesus. And we’ve seen it firsthand lives changed, kids coming to Christ, attitudes changing, and young people starting to head down a different path.

This past Wednesday we had over 80 Lowcountry kids in the gym. Our mission has never been just basketball. It’s about creating a safe place where kids can be encouraged, mentored, loved, challenged, and shown there is a better way forward.

In moments like this, it’s easy for social media to become filled with jokes, division, anger, and insensitive comments, but these are real people, real families, and real lives being affected. Our community doesn’t need more hate right now. It needs compassion, prayer, guidance, and people willing to stand in the gap for the next generation.

Please pray for the victims, their families, and the entire Cane Bay community this morning. Rise Up will continue doing everything we can to love, mentor, feed, encourage, and point these young people toward Jesus and hope.

Excited to announce this fall Rise Up will partner with as we launch the Rise Up x JrNBA League this fall.

Basketball played and taught the way it should be.

This co-ed league for ages 6–14 is designed for both beginners and experienced players who want to grow their game in a positive, competitive, and encouraging environment. Our goal is bigger than just wins and losses. We want kids learning the game the right way while building confidence, teamwork, discipline, and a real love for basketball.

Each team will represent an NBA team and players will receive NBA-style jerseys, making this an experience kids will truly remember.

We’re incredibly excited for what this partnership means for the future of basketball in our community and for the opportunity to continue pouring into the next generation on and off the court. Registration starts June 15th

Spots will fill up quickly.

For more information, text 843-743-9585.

We’re kicking off a new series called Rise Up Hooper of the Week where we highlight young athletes in our program and the impact being made both on and off the court.

This week is extra special because today is .dun5 birthday. Make sure to wish Nick a happy birthday.

Nick was one of the very first kids to truly buy into what Rise Up was about. When we first met him, he had dropped out of high school and was searching for direction. Since then, everything has changed. Nick gave his life to Christ, got baptized, and with the help of Rise Up was able to get back into school.

Since then, he has made All State in track, earned All Region honors in basketball, and played a huge role in his team’s deep playoff run. More importantly, he now spends his time helping pour into the younger kids at Rise Up and setting an example for the next generation.

Proud of this young man and the transformation we’ve watched take place. Excited to see what God has in store for his future.

If you’re interested in helping us continue reaching and mentoring young people in our community, send us a DM. Rise Up Hoops is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on leading kids to Christ and helping guide them toward purpose, growth, and success.

3 DAYS A WEEK. REAL DEVELOPMENT.

Rise Up Hoops is now offering structured group training every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for players serious about getting better.

$160/month
That’s 12 sessions every month only about $13 per session.

Most individual training sessions cost more than that for just one workout.

Our workouts are built to help players improve in real game situations, not just run drills. We focus on:

• Ball handling under pressure
• Game speed shooting
• Finishing through contact
• Decision making & basketball IQ
• Defensive intensity
• Competitive live play

This is a positive environment where kids can be pushed, encouraged, held accountable, and surrounded by other players who want to grow.

Not every athlete can make every session — and that’s okay. The goal is giving families a consistent place their kids can train up to 3 times a week and continue developing month after month.

Led by coaches and former players who truly care about helping athletes improve on and off the court.

If your child wants to stay active, compete, build confidence, and get better this summer, this is a great opportunity.

Spots are limited.

Rise Up Hoops offers youth mentorship and hope 04/29/2026

We’re incredibly honored and grateful to see Rise Up Hoops featured on the front page of The Post and Courier/The Berkeley Independent .

While basketball is a huge part of what we do, Rise Up has always been about more than the game. Our heart is to mentor kids, build community, point people to Christ, and be a light in a world that desperately needs it.

Every week, hundreds of kids walk through our doors for training, open gym, meals, mentorship, and community. None of this happens without people willing to serve, give, pray, and support what’s being built here.

We’re especially thankful for our home church, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church - The Grove, for continually opening its doors to these kids and families, and for the churches and volunteers who provide meals, hair cuts, mentorship and show up week after week to pour into this generation. The community has truly come together in a special way.

As Rise Up continues to grow, we are currently looking for both monthly sponsors and one-time supporters to help us continue reaching and serving these kids every week.
