2 weeks in beautiful Kenya π°πͺ.
I was reminded of the warmth of the people and the sunshine; the great food and great minds. It was a real joy to share my tea knowledge and tasting skills.
2 cities, 3 training classes, 35 people⦠CTC, orthodox and speciality tasting training. The Cambridge 5S grading system for speciality teas was particularly well received.
βNow I can assess and grade my white, green, purple, oolong, yellow and speciality black teas using the same system. It makes it so much easier and clearerβ¦β Training participant

Tea embodies many cultures and spans the world in many different forms, though it is ultimately this one universal leaf. This international tea day, our goal is to reach far and wide to give you a taste of this diversity and unity of tea from across the globe. ESTAβs primary goal is to educate people about the world of tea. As part of this yearβs International Tea Day, we would like to take our commitment one step further by holding one of a kind Zoom session that bridges the gap between tea producers, consumers and any & all tea lovers around the world. At 2 pm British Summer Time on May 21st, we plan to invite more than 1000 people from all over the world to raise a cup in unison to celebrate this amazing beverage. On this International Tea Day May 21st , join us, raise a cup , sip and help women in tea β₯οΈ
In partnership with ESTA Nepal Tea Collectiveβs sister non-profit wing Nepal Tea Foundation will present at least one scholarship for tea training and management to empower women in the tea industry.
Apart from Rita, our youngest supervisor, most of the women in the Nepali Tea Industry are pluckers, processors and/or packers, and this is our humble effort to upskill the women and get them to better management positions within the industry.
This scholarship will allow at least one women who is interested in pursuing a career in tea industry as tea makers, or tea factory managers and/or any other leadership positions, to take a year worth of trainings and classes to develop/upskill their capabilities to make their careers in tea more lucrative.
