Giving thanks to The Creator of the heavens and the earth for making me among the blessed. The ranks of the fathers. The lovers and protectors of their daughters. For bringing our beloved earth side safely and in good health. Providing for our family all we need, and blessing me with more than I could ever deserve. A wise sheikh once said - we love women, but don’t want to be husbands. We love children, but don’t want to be fathers. We love money, but we don’t wanna work. We love heaven, but we don’t wanna die. I pray that God continues to give me the courage and strength to be all I need to be for the sacred mission I’ve been given, and for all that I love.

The Henna Ceremony, or “Laylatul Henna” is a night that represents love, purity, fertility and prosperity in marriage. 💕⛲️👶🏽💰

The Sudanese wedding tradition often includes 5-6 (sometimes more) distinct events. The groom and the bride each have a henna party, which is similar to a bachelor/ette party in that it focuses on one of the two betrothed, and their beloved is not traditionally in attendance. It’s different, in that rather than some of the things guys get up to, it’s a wholesome party where both sides of the family and close friends come together to dance, eat, and drink (juice, tea and coffee 😉)

Across Sudan, North Africa and various other cultures, henna is used to beautify cultural and religious celebrations. In the Afro/Arab Sudanese tradition, the groom gets both hands and feet covered in henna.

Then, for the weeks to come, everywhere he goes, work, mosque, restaurant, wherever, people in the community congratulate him, cheer him on and hype him up on the new journey. Being here in Egypt, I can testify it’s a very nice experience.

It also signals to the community - that’s a married man right there! And I love that built in tradition of accountability.

Praise and thanks to God. For love. For family. For friends. For LIFE. For partnership, companionship and commitment. For being a part of a team, in which you are accepted completely, loved unconditionally, and pushed to grow unendingly. For the spiritual and cultural wisdom that provide guidance, structure and clarity as we navigate new uncharted waters. For ALL the miraculous alignments that made this beautiful experience possible.

And thank God that - we had an amazing time! Apparently this is somewhat rare for the bride and groom on their wedding day. That was made possible by the immense support of our beloved family and friends. 💗 We feared it would be too indulgent to celebrate like this at a time of such struggle, but we were fortunate to be reminded by family that, we need joy, love and celebration in these times.

We want to also thank all the hands and hearts that poured into this experience, from the food to the flowers, from the music to the MCs, from the decoration to the officiation, and all the invaluable support behind the scenes. 💪🏽

This is the podcast that’s been in my heart all along. Deep dives into ancient wisdom, visionary conversations about better futures, and the spiritual fortitude and courage it takes to make a change.

I’m looking for an event venue that can accommodate 70-80 people. 50% children and 50% adults. It should be a space that can accommodate children’s play (no too delicate)
