California Canoe & Kayak at Jack London Square
We're still here, Oakland!
You may have heard we were planning to retire — and while that chapter is still on the horizon, we're not going anywhere just yet! We've decided to keep California Canoe & Kayak open at Jack London Square while we search for the right people to take over and continue the paddling tradition we've built together.
That means you can still count on us for everything you need on the water:
Rentals — Kayaks & stand-up paddleboards
Sales — Boats, gear & accessories
Classes — For all skill levels
Repairs — Expert service you can trust
We are so grateful for this incredible community. Your support over the years has meant everything to us, and we look forward to seeing you out on the water!

Thanks to everyone who came out on a cold and wet New Year's Day for our Annual Paddle and Turkey Chili potluck. We appreciate all the love and support everyone gave us this day and for the last 30 plus years at Jack London Square.
We had planned to close on the 31s of December but plan to remain open for the next couple of months to finish clearing out our inventory and will be open regular business hours. If you didn't make the paddle or potluck please come by. We love seeing everyone and catching up.
We are working on a transition and will keep everyone posted as things progress.
Wishing everyone a happy and healthy new year.
Photos from the paddle thanks to Janie.

Just a reminder for visitors to our Jack London Sq location.
City of Oakland parking meters will soon be enforced citywide on Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. as part of a larger effort to improve parking access and better support the business community. The change goes into effect Jan. 4 starting with a 30-day warning period.
Free Sunday parking has historical ties to outdated blue laws, which prohibited business activities on Sundays to promote rest and religious observance. Today, Sundays are among the busiest days for businesses such as restaurants, shops and entertainment venues. Updating meter hours helps ensure parking is available when demand is the highest, including weekends.
Parking metering promotes turnover, which helps ensure that high-demand areas have available spaces for visitors — ideally one or two spaces per block. Without metering, drivers often leave their vehicles for an extended period of time, limiting access to high-demand areas for other people.
