Starting in the fall of 2025, GetSomeJoy launched a partnership with , a leader in the fight against HIV/AIDS, to bring sustainable creative wellness strategies and joy to their regional CBO leadership conference series.

Since then, we’ve taken our creative wellness tools, our Community Literary Therapy Wall, and our fried chicken stickers to Houston, Oakland, Philadelphia, and Detroit to celebrate, pour into, resource, and learn from leaders, clinicians, advocates, and patients from across the country. Together, we explored ideas for cultivating joy-infused, affirming spaces for care, connection, and collaboration (and how they’re taking care of themselves and others along the way).

GetSomeJoy kicked off the new year by bringing creative wellness tools to NMAC's CBO Northeast Summit in Philadelphia.

After a rousing keynote by Sean M. Smith-Garçon, Director of The EPIcenter for Integrated Health @ NMAC, GetSomeJoy co-founder Alex Hardy invited attendees to celebrate themselves and the ways they've shown up for themselves and their communities via a GetSomeJoy Awards ceremony.

Attendees shared beautiful stories and applauded each other, and Alex invited people to

✅ do the exercise with their communities monthly or quarterly, and

✅ continue sharing their awards with him throughout the day in exchange for our beloved fried chicken stickers.

We gave out so many stickers.

And we talked to so many leaders about how they're prioritizing mental health amidst uncertainty and pouring into themselves and their teams.

We shared our griefKit resource guide (getsomejoy.com/griefkit), invited attendees to our biweekly Peer Support Groups (getsomejoy.com/peer-support), and conducted mental health check-ins via the Community Literary Therapy Wall.

Conference food highlights:

🍗 that tiramisu-like situation during the lunch plenary

🍗 the birria grilled cheese @ Continental down the bloc

🍗 the Italian Market Omelet @ Green Eggs Cafe across the street

Excited to spread more joy (and collect local food recommendations) next month at NMAC's CBO Midwest Summit February 23-26 in Detroit.

This week, we’re bringing some JOY to NMAC’s CBO Leadership Summit in Oakland with our Community Literary Therapy Wall and creative wellness resources for the wonderful folks supporting vulnerable people and families through HIV/AIDS advocacy, care, funding, and more.

GetSomeJoy co-founder Alex Hardy created space for celebration and intention setting in a morning grounding/impromptu awards ceremony before today’s keynote. And the participants showered themselves with creative awards like “the Putting Myself First Award” and the “Adaptability Award.” Shoutout to everyone who celebrated themselves and applauded their colleagues. We brought postcards, fried chicken stickers, griefKits, and invitations to our biweekly Peer Support Groups. On Day 1, we made new friends, found enthusiastic collaborators, got some restaurant recommendations, and received some great hugs.

Excited for Day 2. Next stops: Brooklyn, Detroit, Hampton, and Philly
