Another tournament is in the books for the Ocala Outkasts 10U, and this weekend gave us another glimpse of what this team is capable of when we compete with confidence and play our game.
One of the many highlights came in the circle against Gainesville Gold, who may very well have been the best team in the tournament, not wearing Pink Pinstripes. Emerson Thorner was absolutely dominant, attacking a strong lineup, controlling the game and giving us a chance every inning. Performing like that against that level of competition was impressive to watch.
Unfortunately, Mother Nature didn’t allow that game to play out. Emerson and Cheyenne Paul had our only two hits, and when the rain ended the game, Cheyenne was standing on third base with nobody out. We’ll never know how the inning would have finished, but we certainly would have liked the opportunity to find out. Maisie was a leader for us all weekend, setting the tone with her energy, focus and example. Coach Casey also felt that Ella swung the bat as well as any girl on the team all weekend. And a quick shout out to Juju for coming in and giving us another rock-solid inning in the circle!
Cheyenne put together a strong tournament offensively, and Izzy Johnston continued to give us quality at-bats and run production. Presley Murphy also gave us solid innings in the circle and did what we needed her to do when her opportunity came. Plus P$ lead the entire team with 5 hits on the weekend! Talk about finding a spot as a amazing #2 hitter!
We didn’t get the ending we wanted, but there was plenty to take away from this weekend. Most importantly, we saw that when our best is on the field, this group can compete with some very good softball teams. Now we go back to work, clean up the little things and keep building.
ALL IN. 🖤🩷🤍
