FREE AGENT BUST #2

Up next : CB DEREK COX

In 2013, the San Diego Chargers signed Cox to a 4-year, $20 million deal after several solid seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Chargers expected him to become their top cornerback to fill the shoes of Quentin Jammer and Antoine Cason and help stabilize a struggling secondary.

But things unraveled quickly.

Cox struggled in coverage and was eventually benched during the season.

2013 Season

• 11 Games Started
• 1 Interception
• 34 Tackles
• Lost starting job late in the year

Just one season after signing, the Chargers released Cox in 2014

A signing meant to fix the secondary… that quickly became one of the most frustrating defensive moves of Tom Telesco’s Chargers Tenure

FREE AGENT BUST #1

Let’s Talk About Robert Meachem

In 2012 Meachem Signed With The San Diego Chargers To a 4 year $25.9m deal hoping he’d replace Vincent Jackson and become a deep threat for Philip Rivers

But the production never came.

Meachem struggled to make an impact in the Chargers offense

His stats Consisted of

• 14 Games
• 14 Receptions
• 207 Yards
• 2 TDs

He returned to the Saints the next season

A signing that looked promising… but quickly became one of the most disappointing free-agent moves of the decade
