Nobody can do the work for you.

Not the early mornings. Not the hard sessions. Not the moment doubt shows up and tells you to stop.

But here’s what’s also true — nobody can take it from you either.

Every step you chose. Every mile you showed up for. Every time you kept going when you had every reason not to.

That’s yours. It lives in you now. The work is working. Keep going.

This is Clark.

Surrounded by everything he thinks he needs…trying to hold onto it all…and ending up with nothing in his mouth 😄

Athletes do this too.

Too many workouts. Too many metrics. Too many “shoulds.”

And in the process… they lose the one thing that matters—presence.

Progress doesn’t come from doing everything. It comes from doing the right things, consistently.

That’s what we practice inside Endurance Squad and 1:1 coaching.

Simple. Intentional. Effective.

(Also… maybe just pick one ball 🐾)

Most athletes are one week away from changing everything.

This is that week.

The Awake Athlete Retreat is a Blue Zone immersion in movement, mindset, and presence. Beach runs. Ocean swims. Yoga. Mobility. Breathwork. Coaching that goes all the way in.

Nosara, Costa Rica. May 8-15, 2027.

Hosted by Jess + BJ Gumkowski — 40 years of combined endurance experience, World Championship start lines, and decades of helping athletes find the level beneath the level.

Most athletes think fading on the run is a fitness problem.

Sometimes it is.

But more often, it’s the accumulation of small things that finally show up once the body is under enough load.

- Under-fueling
- Poor pacing
- Starting too aggressively
- Stress outside of training
- A nervous system that’s already overloaded before race day even begins

This is why performance can’t be reduced to mileage and workouts alone.

The body is always responding to the full picture.

And the athletes who learn how to manage energy — physically, mentally, and emotionally — are usually the ones still moving well late in the race.

Performance is holistic.

BJ also wrote a deeper blog on this topic today if you want to go further into the conversation.

And if you’re ready to train smarter — not just harder — Endurance Squad is built to help you connect all the pieces so you can perform stronger on race day and recover better afterward.

This is the deeper performance work we are known for.

How did it all start? This captures how much we believe that YogiTriathlete is here for us all to be better, to live more freely and to perform like we know deep down is possible.

What happens when motivation runs out?
You build something stronger.

Last week’s Endurance Squad coaching call is now on YouTube — free. We’re talking willpower, consistency, and why taper messes with athletes way more than it should.

Real conversation. No script. Just how we coach.

Watch it on YouTube 👉 And if you want this every month — Endurance Squad is open. This is what we do. Link to join in bio.

To every mom who’s set the alarm before sunrise, crossed a finish line, and still showed up for everyone else after — this one’s for you.

Happy Mother’s Day from the Yogi Triathlete family. 🐘

Tag an endurance mom who deserves her flowers. 🌸

Most people will watch this and keep scrolling. That’s okay. This isn’t for most people.

This is for the athlete who trains hard and still feels like something’s missing. Who knows there’s another level — not through more force, but through alignment.

We didn’t build YogiTriathlete from a boardroom. We built it from a Honda Fit, with everything we owned released and one belief: that endurance sport is a doorway to something deeper — if you’re willing to walk through it.

Ten years later, we’re taking athletes to Nosara. May 2027.

A world-class retreat center in a Costa Rican Blue Zone. Sunrise beach runs. Breathwork. Training. Presence. The kind of conversations you don’t get to have anywhere else.

12 spots. 5 already claimed. 7 remaining.
If something in you just moved — that’s your answer. Link in bio.

With performance and presence,
Jess + BJ 🤍

Most athletes believe the missing link in Ironman training is more.

More miles. More sessions. More effort stacked on effort.

But what if the real edge isn’t found in doing more…
It’s found in how you show up when things get hard?

At YogiTriathlete, we see it differently.

Late in the race, everything narrows. It’s no longer about splits or numbers. It’s about breath, presence, and the conversation happening within.

Yoga trains that space.

It builds strength that lasts.
It sharpens focus under fatigue.
It teaches athletes how to stay instead of unravel.

This is where races are truly decided.

The missing link isn’t more training.
It’s deeper training.
