This might not be the first moment you think of… but it was my favorite moment of the weekend for OU Softball.

Series on the line.
Ball down the third base line.
And Sydney Barker makes a big play to start a game-ending double play.

That one hurts. No way around it.
You had a real shot to sweep Texas… and you let it slip in extras.

But don’t lose the bigger picture — OU went on the road and won the series.

And honestly, there’s a lot to like coming out of that game.

OU threw FIVE different pitchers in that environment and still had a chance to win. That matters.

And the more this lineup saw Teagan Kavan, the better the at-bats got. That could be important later.

Because there’s a good chance you’ll see her again.

Not the result you wanted today… but a really solid weekend overall.

The Sooners are playing its best softball of the year and it’s showing in Austin.

I asked Tiare Jennings about Audrey Lowry… and her answer tells you why the OU sophomore has been SO GOOD this season.

“She’s a silent assassin… you don’t know what she’s throwing.”

Lowry already has the hardest thing to develop:
- deception
- spin
- multiple looks hitters can’t pick up

And now we’re seeing the OU Ace put it all together in the circle.

OU didn’t even have their best offensive night… and still won in Austin.

Audrey Lowry was INCREDIBLE in the circle. That’s the best performance of her OU career.

The defense made every big play.
And against one of the best lineups in the country… Texas never got comfortable.

The Sooners secured the FOUR-PEAT in 2024 with an 8-4 win over the Longhorns in the WCWS Championship Series.

OU became the first college softball program to win four-consecutive NCAA championships.

Patty Gasso used a committee approach, with FIVE OU pitchers seeing action in the circle.

It’s the second time the Sooners have beaten the Longhorns in the WCWS Championship Series.
