Goals accomplished 👏
Congratulations to Pug Nation lifters, Sebastian, Rylie, and Gemma, at the USA Powerlifting Spring Splash in South Dakota!
Each lifter had their individual goals for this meet and we met all of them!
In her first ever sanctioned meet, Rylie took the silver metal and punched her ticket to Nationals, setting multiple new PRs, and had an outstanding 8/9 day. She even held a state squat record for about 1 min until Gemma took it back with the very next attempt 🤣 💪
Gemma hadn't had a new PR in a very long time, so her goal was to do her best and hopefully come away with new PRs. She had a perfect 9/9 day, the only perfect meet for the Mafia Squad, breaking all of her previous PRs and setting 4 new Nebraska Stae Records in the Youth 1 (8-9yrs) 30kg weight class!!
Sebastian came in with 1 goal - break the records set by his cousin 2 years ago! He didnt care about perfect marks this time, he wanted those records! He did miss 2 of his attempts, going 7/9, but did smash the Nebraska State squat, bench, and total records for Youth 1 (8-9yrs), 35kg weight class. Although he fell short of the deadlift record for the clean sweep he still had an amazing day and is so proud 👏
Congratulations to all the athletes 👏. I am so proud of them and want to thank the families, friends, and fellow lifters for their encouragement and support.

Rylie is our youngest and lightest lifter. In her very first meet, ever, she went a perfect 6 for 6 with 18 white lights!
Since this was her first meet, she obviously set 2 PRs to build on, but what was most surprising was just how perfectly she executed each lift within the rules of powerlifting. She finished with a 20lb bench press and a 72.5lb deadlift, at just 50lb body weight, and earned the Mafia Boss Best Lifter award for youth female!
Congratulations shout out for Rylie!!
Rylie has another challenge coming up on May 2nd where she will compete at the USA Powerlifting Spring Splash in South Dakota and attempt to qualify for Youth Nationals this June in Chicago.

Elliott finished his push-pull meet strong by securing a new deadlift PR of 130lbs!! Congratulations Elliott!! That was a strong pull to top the day off.
He also basically matched his PR in bench press with a solid 60lb press.
Although Elliott trains at another gym, with his family, he is still a strong presence and competitor for the Mafia Squad in his 3rd season in powerlifting. Elliott always dives right in to help at the fund raising events and we are proud to have him representing Pug Nation.
Elliott will be spending the summer training for The Olympia in Las Vegas this September!

Avery won the Mafia Boss Best Lifter award for the boys youth division!
Congratulations Avery!! 🏆
Although he missed a couple lifts and did not hit new PRs, his total was still outstanding enough to be the Top Dawg for the second time in a row at a meet.
We tried for PRs with his 3rd attempts in bench and deadlift but the power wasn't quite there this time. He finished with a solid 65lb bench and easy 160lb deadlift with room to spare on both so we will see PRs at the next meet for sure. Avery is very coachable and already solid on his form and techniques. I feel we can see great things from him as continues to learn and grow in this sport.
Avery will compete next on June 12th in Chicago for USA Powerlifting's Youth Nationals!!

Jaxon had a great day on the platform last weekend. He went 6 for 6 and secured 2 new PRs!
From his last meet in January until this meet, he made significant gainz of more than 15% to improve his bench PR to 50lbs and his deadlift PR to 150lbs.
It's awesome to see his steady progress over his 3 seasons of powerlifting. 💪
Jaxon will now focus on USA Powerlifting Youth Nationals in Chicago on June 12th.

Sebastian is still perfect on the platform through his first two meets going 6 for 6 (33 for 33 with 99 white lights in his career) at the Pug Mafia Push-Pull last weekend. .
He matched his bench PR, with room to spare, but set an amazing new deadlift PR hitting that 100lb mark for the first time.
I am so proud of his consistency and his performance when it matters most. He is a very coachable kid and shows steady progress month to month.
Next up for Sebastian is the USA Powerlifting Spring Spash on May 2nd and then onto Youth Nationals, in Chicago, on June 12th.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much to everyone who made the Pug Mafia Push-Pull powerlifting meet a success. We could not have done this without the help and support from OneUp Gym, the many volunteers, multiple sponsors and donors, the wonderful athletes, tremendous friends and family, and of course the kids and pups of Pug Nation!
I will post more pics and videos separately as they come in, including some stats from the kiddos, but I want to make sure we share our gratitude for what this event meant to all of us.
Onward to USA Powerlifting Youth Nationals!! 💪
Thank you so much!

Rylie is both excited and nervous for her first ever powerlifting competition on Saturday!! She has worked really hard to nail down her form and technique, as well as learning the rules of powerlifting and judges signals.
We are excited to she her shine for her first time on the platform. She is even bringing a few cute pug fur babies, like Donny here, to represent the Mafia Squad.
Come out Saturday, April 18th, to OneUp Gym in Lincoln, Nebraska for the first ever Pug Mafia Push-Pull and cheer on Rylie and all the youth powerlifters of Pug Nation as well as meet some pugs up for adoption!
