Ontario Professional Firefighters - Local 1430

Labor Day honors the generations of working people who organized, stood together and helped build the rights and protections workers rely on today.

For firefighters, that legacy is reflected in safer working conditions, a voice on the job and the ability to advocate collectively for our members and their families.

Ontario Firefighters Local 1430 is proud to carry that tradition forward. This Labor Day, we recognize those who came before us, those serving today and the enduring strength of working people standing together.

🧠🎗️ Some exposures follow you home. Firefighters routinely encounter trauma, loss, disrupted sleep and high-stress situations, and the cumulative effects of those experiences can build over the course of a career—even without one defining incident.

Recognizing when the job is affecting your sleep, relationships, concentration or overall well-being is an important part of protecting long-term health and staying ready to serve.

❤️🕊️ On August 27, Local 1430 remembers Fire Engineer Curtis Gold on the fourth anniversary of his passing.

Curtis joined the Ontario Fire Department in 2016 as part of a close-knit academy class united by the motto, “10 in, 10 out.” He became a respected Fire Engineer, paramedic and member of the Urban Search and Rescue team, but those who knew him remember most his humor, friendship and dedication to others.

Curtis remains deeply missed by his family, friends and fellow firefighters. His stories continue to be shared, and his legacy remains part of Local 1430.

We love you, Curtis.

🚒 Effective hoseline operations depend on more than the firefighter at the nozzle. They rely on communication, coordination and every member of the crew working together.

During hands-on training, Ontario firefighters reinforced those fundamentals while working through live-flow hoseline operations as a team. Training together builds the consistency and coordination crews depend on when conditions demand it.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐎𝐜𝐭. 𝟏 — 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐞? 🚑
Beginning Oct. 1, CONFIRE EMS will begin providing and coordinating ambulance services across participating communities, including Ontario, with Priority Ambulance supporting the majority of ambulance transportation needs.

What doesn’t change: Ontario firefighters will continue responding to medical emergencies as part of the 911 system. Residents should also continue calling 911 exactly as they do today.

The transition is designed to more closely coordinate fire, dispatch and ambulance resources behind the scenes while maintaining uninterrupted emergency medical service for the community.
