πΊπΈ πͺ Memorial Day carries a different weight in professions built around service, sacrifice, and duty to others. Today, we pause to remember the men and women who never made it home from military service and recognize the families who continue carrying that loss.
From our firefighters to the Ontario community, we hope the day is spent with reflection, gratitude, and respect for what was given in service to this country.

ποΈπ₯ Who remembers this apartment fire last October? During Building Safety Month, incidents like this are a reminder that multi-family fires demand disciplined coordination from the first minute β reading conditions, protecting exposures, searching when needed, and staying locked in with the crew beside you.
For the community, building safety starts before the emergency: working smoke alarms, closed bedroom doors, clear exits, and knowing two ways out can buy critical time when conditions change fast.

π§ π§βπ Mental Health Awareness Month is an important reminder that the stress carried in this profession does not always stay on the fireground.
Long shifts, difficult calls, disrupted sleep and the pressure to constantly perform at a high level can take a toll over time β which is why taking care of your mental health has to be treated with the same seriousness as your physical health.
Sometimes that means stepping outside for fresh air after a tough shift, getting out for a walk, making time for the things you enjoy, practicing controlled breathing to slow things down, or simply talking to someone you trust instead of carrying everything alone.

βοΈ The Counseling Team International is available to our members 24/7 at 1-800-222-9691 β because sometimes the strongest thing you can do is reach out before the weight gets heavier. This job can take a toll in ways people outside the fire service do not always see, which is why support that understands public safety culture matters so much.
Whether itβs personal, family-related, or work-related, our Peer Support resources are here to remind every member of our department: you do not have to carry it alone.

ποΈββοΈπ₯ Our 10th Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser was made stronger by the sponsors who chose to invest in our work, our members, and the community we serve. Their support helps fund public safety initiatives throughout the year and strengthens the resources we use to protect Ontario and stand behind our fire service families.

𫨠As we wrap up Earthquake Preparedness Month, take a moment to make sure your family knows what to do if the ground starts moving and youβre not there. Make sure they know their safe spots in each room, how to Drop, Cover, and Hold On, who to contact if networks are overwhelmed, where to reunite if the home is unsafe, and how to shut off utilities if needed.
Weβre trained for the call, but preparedness starts at homeβtake the time to walk your family through it now so theyβre ready when it counts.

π² π€ Last weekβs union dinner gave our members a chance to step away from the calls, share a great meal, and spend time with both their families and the people they serve alongside. Nights like this are a reminder that strong service is built not only through training, but through camaraderie, trust, and taking care of one another off duty too. π π¨βπ

ποΈββοΈπ₯ Last week, we hosted our 10th Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser at El Prado Golf Courses and raised thousands of dollars in support of the work ahead. This event would not have been possible without the support of our members, sponsors, participants, and El Prado Golf Courses, all of whom helped make the day a success.
The funds raised will go back into supporting our members, strengthening public safety initiatives throughout the year, and continuing to protect the community and fire service families who stand beside us β thank you all. π€
