Great high school open mat practice today. Had 16 or so ranging from 106-heavyweight. And that’s not even including the football players who are going to join us in a couple months. Can’t wait for what’s to come #OakleafBuilt
Will be there for the high school practice from 1-3 tomorrow. Excited to meet everyone and get back on the mat!
Are you guys practicing on Monday?
FYI - Coach Bess just posted that he will be in the wrestling room today from 1- 3:30 PM for anyone who wants to get in some extra work and drilling. Keep in mind that as you're sitting there thinking "Nah," some of your competition wrestled in tournaments yesterday. What are YOU doing to get better? See you in the room.
As we approach Wrestling season, I figured I would drop off a link for parents to create custom shirts. It never fails that the season shows up and then you see everyone with their shirts and try to rush one out to yourself!
Thank you for having us and treating Nolan like he was one of the team. 😀😀💪💪🤼‍♂️🤼‍♂️

Excellent turnout for the 2nd Annual Oakleaf Holiday Minicamp last Saturday, Dec 26. For 6 hours, these wrestlers got a lot of learning, fine tuning, and live action.

Thanks goes out to Coach Bess and Coach Franklin for putting on the camp. Also, thanks to the Moore family, Mr Vukota, and Mr Hemphill for handling the grill and additional sides and drinks again during the lunch break.

Don't forget practice continues this week, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5-7 in the high school wrestling room. All Oakleaf wrestlers are welcome to come out, not just the middle school.

[12/12/20]   Oakleaf High School finished the Friday Night Lights tournament today with a record of 4-1 while missing 6 starters. Thank you to parents and family who came out to support! #GoKnights

[11/05/20]   A big thanks to coach Tristen for helping out the high schoolers these past two weeks!

[08/24/20]   Parents, no wrestling practice tonight. Get those student-athletes ready for their first day of school tomorrow. LOL have a good night.

08/22/2020

Shout out to these two studs for putting in some work today at the Bold City Tournament. Good job Kevin and Roman!

[08/10/20]   Good morning. Starting this week we are only allowed to hold practices after 2 pm. Unfortunately, football is in the weight room from 2-5 pm so we will be postponing weight lifting for at least the next two weeks.

In short- NO weightlifting for the next two weeks including today.

As soon as there is an open window for us to be back in the weight room we will be back in there. If you have a 9-12th grader not in our google classroom please have them join, class code: geqkrh3

Students enrolled at the high school may return to the mat starting Monday July 13th. Attached is a letter to parents regarding the details of phase 3 (the phase where we are permitted to start wrestling).

Please note that practice is optional and there is no penalty to being on the team during season if you do not feel safe to wrestle now.

We will take precautions including cleaning the mats/walls/doors/door handles before and after practice, hand sanitizer when entering/leaving, as well as other precautions to be as clean as possible.

The schedule for now is:

Monday-Thursday
Wrestling 12-1 pm
Lifting 1-2 pm

Currently, there is no word on when the middle schoolers can join yet. As soon as there is word coach Franklin and coach Bess will be notified! Comment any questions.

06/30/2020

Parents, a good opportunity to knock the dust off while we wait for the all the clear to get back in our room.

06/23/2020

The high schoolers will be back in the weight room starting Monday June 29th. Lifting schedule is 11 am-12 pm Monday-Thursday. To participate you must have a current physical uploaded into athleticlearance.com

Instructions to be completely eligible to start lifting/practicing are attached. Actual wrestling won’t start until at least July 13th if there are no changes.

Excellent mini camp today with the Oakleaf coaches. Six hours worth of getting it in for these Oakleaf elementary, middle, and high school wrestlers who want to get better. We even got in one of the legendary "field trips" (ask an Oakleaf wrestler, they'll tell you what it is). Special thanks to Coach Bess and Coach Franklin for the camp, and all the parents who helped set up an awesome spread for lunch today.

Reports of the death of this program were definitely premature.

Can't think of a better way to kick off Thanksgiving break than a 6 hour camp with these kids. Some of the middle school, high school, and elementary getting in work bright and early on a Saturday.

[06/27/19]   Good afternoon everyone, it’s Coach Chris! I absolutely couldn’t be more excited for this up coming wrestling season. I know it’s quit a few months away but the news I’ve received in the last few days could not be better for this Growing program. The head coach and coaches on staff are going to be top notch. From what I understand the schedule is almost complete and if you like mat time and wrestling under the light you are going to want to be a part of this program.
Get some off season work in, push some weights, November will be here before you know it!
Have some fun and have your name forever written on the wall of the wrestling room!
