Six pilots came to ECC South to fly handlaunch gliders in a head-to-head format!

This was the scene at the May 18th sailplane fun fly. We had 11 pilots signed in. It was great to see these big, quiet, graceful models in the air!

Fall 2012 Indoor Flying Schedule!!!!

Indoor flying at the ECC South campus resumes this week! We will be flying from 7:30 to 9:30pm on Fridays in the gym. Note that on three of the evenings we will set a little time in the evening to hold a special "event" as indicated in the schedule below.

It’s that time of year again! It’s time to mark our calendars with the days that we should not be flying at ECC South due to Buffalo Bills or ECC Football conflicts. Remember – flying when the public is under or near our flight patterns is an important safety issue. Anyone that has been pursuing this hobby for any length of time knows that anything can happen at any time.

2012 1.5M Challenge Contest

Unfortunately, due to a high wind forecast for today, the "Run What You Brung" contest has been cancelled. Please stay tuned for other schedule updates.

The Run What You Brung sailplane contest has been moved to its rain date of Sunday, July 17th. We have checked with the ECC and confirmed that there will be no schedule conflicts with other groups on the field.

Coming up on Sunday, June 10th - WNYSEF will hold the "Run What You Brung" thermal duration sailplane contest. There will be two classes - one for winch-launched sailplanes and one for upstart/hi-start launched sailplanes. Registration opens at 9am. First plane off at 10am.

As of today (Tuesday) the weather forecast is sunny/partly-cloudy, a high of 79 degrees, and light Westerly breezes. It should be a great day for a sailplane contest!

The field will be closed to electric-powered aircraft from 10am to 2pm.

WNYSEF's Memorial Day Fun Fly will be held on May 28th. All R/C sailplanes and electric-powered aircraft are welcome! We hope to see you there. Pics will be posted ASAP after the event.
