Update for weekend snapper fishing
On May 21, 2026, a rogue federal judge sided with activists in an attempt to block Floridians from exercising their right to fish through the recently approved Exempted Fishing Permit (EFP) for Atlantic Red Snapper issued by NOAA Fisheries earlier this month.
As a result of this ruling, NOAA has temporarily stalled Florida‘s Atlantic Red Snapper EFP. However, the agencies stand together in opposition of this delay tactic and will continue fighting for our fishing communities.
To that end, to ensure our anglers can get out on the water as planned beginning this weekend, FWC has modified its plans that will ensure access to fishing in our state waters. Effective May 21, FWC will rescind EO 26-11. Doing so will allow for the public to carry on with their plans on the water, including the ability to catch red snapper in state waters. As authorized by Florida Administrative Code, the recreational bag limit will default to 2 red snapper per person with a 20-inch size limit and remain in effect until further notice.
As for Florida’s historic EFP, when the EFP is unfrozen and ultimately restored, FWC will issue an updated EO reestablishing the extended red snapper season, which will increase the nautical miles available for fishing. Moreover, FWC officers have been notified of the unpredictable nature of the situation and will ensure boaters are provided education within our jurisdictional waters.

🎣 Atlantic Red Snapper season starts THIS WEEK!
After years of short seasons, Florida anglers finally get more days on the water in 2026 🙌 Be sure to check the updated regulations and remember anglers planning to keep snapper will need to declare their trip through the new FWC system before heading out.
Most importantly… be safe, have fun, and SEND US YOUR SNAPPER PHOTOS for the Coastal Angler brag board! 📸🔥

Big weights, big moments, and an even bigger purpose. 🎣🏆
The Wolfson Children’s Hospital Bass Tournament delivered another unforgettable weekend on the water, bringing together some of the best anglers around for an incredible cause.
Friday’s winning team brought 29.69 lbs to the scales, while Saturday saw even heavier bags with an impressive 37-pound winning limit. Huge congratulations to all of the teams that made the top spots and to every angler who came out to support the event. 🙌
Weekends like this are what tournament fishing is all about — competition, camaraderie, and giving back to the community. Already counting down until next year.

The bite is ON 🔥🐟
Tuna are chewing and the offshore action is as good as it gets right now. When they’re fired up like this, it’s game on from the first cast to the last run back in. 💪

What a weekend 🙌
43 boats showed up for Catching for a Cause and the support from this community was unreal. From blast off to weigh-in, it was one of those days you won’t forget.
Hosted by Gumbo Wars Inc. and Coastal Angler Magazine, we were able to raise over $30,000 for Captain Eddie’s fight against cancer. That’s what this event is all about.
The fishing absolutely showed out too. Big bags hit the scales, including an insane 37.36 lb bag, proving just how strong the St. Johns River fishery is right now.
Between the anglers, the sponsors, and the community, the energy carried all the way into the after party. Countless raffle prizes, great food, and a crowd that stayed to support until the very end.
Huge thank you to every single angler, sponsor, volunteer, and person who bought a raffle ticket or just came out to be part of it. You are the reason we’re able to make an impact.
This one was special 💙
