You know that feeling … when you’ve had a great lesson and you’re in the moment walking back to the barn on your horse . You think how lucky you are to be blessed enough to be on top of a great horse that you consider your family and best friend .. to be lucky enough to be able to enjoy spending time with your horse, and how proud you are of the progress you’ve both made as a team. Enjoy that time , savor it , and bask in it !

Annie was rocking out with a lip dance and playing with the water ! Lol! It really makes my heart jump for joy when I see any of the horses having fun and showing their personality .

🚨 HOW OLD IS YOUR RIDING HELMET? 🪖🐴

Be honest… when was the last time you checked?

Safety equipment is one place we don’t want to get complacent. Helmet replacement guidance varies by manufacturer, and helmets may need to be replaced after an impact even when damage isn’t obvious.

Perfect timing because Schneiders Safety Awareness Week is happening through Sept. 20, with up to 50% OFF helmets, vests, cases & accessories. 👏

Consider this your reminder to pull out that helmet and check its age, condition and fit. 🧐

Protect that head so you can keep doing what you love. ❤️🐎

POV: Diesel hits $6.39 a gallon, so Ebony , my truck, gets the day off and the scooter becomes the new barn vehicle. 😂🛻➡️🛵

Just a riding instructor finding creative ways to save on fuel while heading to lessons! 🐴

Would you make the switch?

Well… that escalated quickly. 😳⛽️Earlier today: $5.85/gallon for diesel.Tonight: $6.39/gallon.That’s a 54¢ jump in a mat...

Well… that escalated quickly. 😳⛽️

Earlier today: $5.85/gallon for diesel.
Tonight: $6.39/gallon.

That’s a 54¢ jump in a matter of hours! 😩

At this rate, if you see me scooting around Orlando on my scooter, mind your business. 😂🛴 I’ve got places to be, but apparently my truck and my wallet are no longer on speaking terms.

Anyone else getting sticker shock at the pump today?! What are gas or diesel prices where you are? 👇

As if it’s not hot enough!! Nothing is more disappointing at the barn when it’s a hotttt day and you go reach for the hose to fill your horse’s buckets up and splash some cool water on yourself and the darn nozzle breaks !!! Argh !! Horse people problems !

☀️ EQUESTRIANS… we are NOT turning into leather ladies! 😂🐴

When you spend HOURS teaching and riding in an uncovered arena, that Florida sun adds up and our light sandy footing reflects even more of it back at us. 🏖️☀️

So today’s Behind The Bit isn’t about protecting the horse…it’s about protecting the TRAINER.

👒 Trainer’s hat for my face
🕶️ Sunglasses for sun + flying sand
👕 Riding shirt zipped up for more chest & neck coverage
🧤 Riding gloves to protect my hands (and help prevent that ridiculous trainer tan 😂)

After watching my mother deal with skin cancer several times, I’ve become much more conscious about protecting my own skin.

We take care of our horses.
We take care of our students.
We need to take care of ourselves, too. ❤️

Save this as your reminder before your next long arena day! ☀️🐴

🚨 Your horse shouldn’t be walking YOU. 🐴

On today’s Behind The Bit, Annie and I are demonstrating what proper leading should look like.

Your horse should walk WITH you—not ahead, not behind, and definitely not crowding into your personal space.

If they invade your space 👉 move them back into their lane.

If they rush ahead 👉 stop, back them up, reset and try again.

You may have to repeat it several times. Consistency is what teaches them where they belong.

✨ The goal is a horse walking calmly beside you with NO tension on the lead or reins.

Good horsemanship starts on the ground. 💪🐴

Bella is coming along so nicely since she has been put back to work . She’s back to being light and responsive at the walk, trot, and canter. She has such a lovely canter as well . One of my long time students recently compared her to driving a Mercedes as compared to other horses she has ridden . Bella has tons of training on her . ( she better.. lol.. she’s the trainer’s horse) . Right now the focus is on keeping a more simple ride on her since Audrey has now moved up to riding Bella . She has a lot of buttons . Seth gave her an amazing start, but Bella is a whole different ride . Seth is a push ride, while Bella has a motor. Seth required Audrey to use more leg and seat and she needed a spur and crop as well . Bella takes very ,very light aides to get a good ride in , so Audrey is now learning how to ride with a more quiet , hand, seat, and leg. Bella will help Audrey become more of a driver instead of a passenger . She will bring Audrey up the ranks like she has done with all of her prior riders and help her become an amazing rider . So look out at the showgrounds because Bella is coming back to bring the competition to the ring . ❤️🐴
