Race day at Cordele Speedway, looking forward to a great last night

Another race in the books at Cordele Motor Speedway. Started the weekend out Friday with a little practice before Mother Nature arrived. The car was good but needed some adjustment for race day. As always the team put their heads together and threw some adjustments at the car on Saturday and the car was much better and ready to race. Qualified 3rd out of 18 cars and after the role of the dice the invert was 3 which put us on the pole for the feature event. Once the green flag dropped we raced side by side a couple of laps and then pulled out in front to take the lead. Started catching lapped traffic quickly which was a little sketchy at times not sure which way they were going but all was good until us and 2nd place had to split a lap car on the front stretch putting the lapped car in the center with us on the outside and 2nd place on the bottom going into turn one the 2nd place car was late to the party but still drove in to the turn and knocked the lap car up into us which sent us out over the hill and thru the fence in turn one. Once stopped on the other side of the fence Matthew got out of the car to see how bad the damage was to the car. Not bad at all considering the ride so he drove back into the pit from the pit entrance road and multiple race teams jumped in and helped to get him back out on the track in time to continue the race. When the green flag dropped the only way to go was forward and that is exactly what Matthew did from last place to 3rd place by the time the checkered flag flew. One caution or a few more laps and we could have been back in the fight for the win!! What an awesome race weekend with friends & family! Would like to thank Bruns General Contractors & Chad Pierce Motorsports for the support year after year. Also a big Thank you to Dave Sear’s, Richard Griffis, Cody Durham, George Gorham & team, Michael Atwell & team, and the awesome officials for all the help provide to get Matthew back out in time to finish the race.
