The Oxford Chess Club is trying out a new meeting schedule: we'll be meeting at 1 pm today (Sunday, 5/26) at Circle and Square Brewery. If you're looking to play a few games over the weekend, please join us!

We'll finalize a recurring weekend time soon and I'll post about it here!!

We had a great turnaround and lots of fun games at our December Monthly Blitz tournament yesterday. 7 players competed in an unrated section with 3 rounds of swiss-style rapid games (10/d5).

Our winner's table is shown below! Congratulations to the top of the leaderboard - Ed, John, Eamon, Daniel, and to all the others that participated. There were many brilliant moves and even more brilliant post-game analyses!

We are looking forward to many more tournaments and more fun games!

It is tournament day, Oxford Chess Club!! The time control will be rapid (10 mins, 5 sec delay), and we will have up to 6 rounds depending on how many participants we have.

Note that we will run both a USCF section and an unrated section for those who don't have or don't want to have a USCF membership. Please arrive early and be sure to talk to us so you are included in the tournament.

Free play (not in a tournament) will also be available and encouraged today!

We had another great chess night yesterday! Some new faces and lots of returning faces too.

Congratulations to Oxford Chess Club member Hugh Monteith, who won the under 1800 section of the 63rd Mid South Open this past weekend. He scored an incredible 5.5/6, was the sole winner of the tournament, and gained a whopping 212 ELO points!!
