We had the first meeting of our future LMWS chartered gun club this past Tuesday. (Note: being chartered will allow us to have meetings on LMWS property and listed on our HOA calendar - currently we’re an HOA interest group.)

Thank you to all who have shown an interest, in forming a gun club, in person and in page posts. We already have over 80 followers on FB. Approximately 40 ‘future members’ were in attendance at our initial meeting and we have 4 names of interested parties for our in interim board members. This interim board, along with Bob Sebastian and myself, Marisa Fontenot, will take us through creation of bylaws and the HOA charter club application process.

This is an exciting time for our community and shooting enthusiasts, as well as newcomers to the world of shooting.

We will keep you posted of our next steps and educational opportunities. Watch this space.

FYI:

For those of you that are current members of The Powder Room Shooting Range & Training Center, they have monthly meetings for members of the range. This month’s meeting is Friday.

Note: at our initial meeting on August 11th we will have more info about memberships, discounts, competitions, etc.

Good day. It seems we have quite a few interested in a community gun cub.

We have a plan to move forward to get our gun club ‘charter’ application approved along with our first meet up.

An event will be created so you can respond with your intentions of attending.

Tuesday, August 11, at 3 pm a gathering of those interested in leading our charge to get our club started, chartered and brainstorm ideas will meet at The Powder Room Shooting Range & Training Center in their classroom.

The purpose of this meeting is to name an interim President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer and review potential bylaws, both of which are necessary for charter application to HOA for club status. Of course we will have open dialogue and sharing of ideas.

If the meeting goes quickly, the Powder Room staff will be prepared with an informative presentation, for attendees, on gun values and appraisal.

Bob and I, Marisa, have created a FaceBook page for our gun enthusiasts. Bear with us as we learn, and hopefully make getting together with other community members willing to learn, be safe, possibly compete and just have fun, a bit easier.

Note: Bob recently took a defensive class at The Powder Room (on 98 just west of 79) and Marisa just took their ‘First Shots’ class.
