Coaching Update: I have waited a while to make this formal announcement, but it is time.
In June I alerted AD Way of my desire/need to be away from the team a little more this spring. First and foremost, I am dad. With my daughter away at college & playing tennis in Virginia, I wanted to be able to travel & watch her play. After thinking it over & further discussions with my family & AD Way, I decided to formally stepped back from the head coaching position in July. I met Coach White, AD Way, & then with the Boosters & players a week later to speak to them directly. This was not an easy choice. I truly love the players & being on the court with them. The past 4 years have been a learning experience. I may still be part of PHS Tennis as an Assistant Coach or at least helping transition in the new coach, & help Coach White as much as I can.
With that being said, AD Way has selected a new head coach. She is Alyssa Stanley (no relation) who is a counselor at PHS. She has a tennis background from Williamatown High School (like mysellf...lol), but I am sure she will do a great job, & she will get all the support she wants from me during this transition.
Change is always challenging, but it is my hope that this will be a successful transition. Things are already in motion for this season. I know the Boosters are actively preparing, & Coach Alyssa will be coming up to speed as quickly as she can & getting to know the team.
Either in an Assitant role or from the sideline, I plan to be there as much as I can to support the team. I appreciate everyone that supports PHS Tennis, especially the players who make being a coach worth it!
