Stories for runners, by runners - worldwide

Share yours: run-culture@run-alw We belong to a culture. We dodge cars. We are running.

We run in snow, over trails, up hills. We run for sport, for health, for love. We curse traffic lights. We slip between rain drops. We own the morning,
We own the night. We exist to tell your story. Triumphs and failures. Because you represent us. All of us.

I started trail running when I was 11. The older I get the further I seem to want to go!

The most valuable lessons that I’ve learnt about life and about myself, I’ve learnt through running.

At some point I got into running, after playing football - I enjoyed it so much that I started running marathons! I run daily, it clears my mind.

When your freshman son decides to follow in his grandfather and father’s footsteps and run track, it deserves a come out of retirement post.

WE RUN WITH AHMAUD ALWAYS.

I didn’t create this account as a political statement. And lately it exists as essentially an archive of the past. But as runners I’ve always felt we’re in this together. Tragedy surrounds us everyday, but when a tragedy is so ugly and strikes a human being that was merely doing what we all love, somehow it feels like it affects us deeper.

I’d like to think this could have happened to any of us, but the fact is this young man was in the wrong place, at the wrong time, encountered the wrong people, and was the “wrong color”. But why does that matter? It shouldn’t. He, like all of us should be able to enjoy countless miles without worrying about being murdered - end of story.

I got this symbol as a reminder that we are all equal in the eyes of the universe. Individualy we can’t change the world, but collectively maybe there’s hope. And while I’m aware a post on social media won’t hit the problem head on, maybe if our little corner of the world can be more accepting of people that are different from us, we can slowly reach the people that need it most.

Just some thoughts I had on my run today. I hope you all have been well. All my best.

The beauty of running and streaking is as simple as this, you can do it any way you want to. You can set you own goals, your own parameters, and follow them as you see fit. Most importantly, challenging yourself to follow through with something that will not only challenge you, but change you.
