Congrats to our two STATE qualifiers. Malik Johnson took first in the long jump and triple jump while Cam Gunn took second in the high jump. Both will be jumping at Charleston next Friday.
In addition, several personal bests were set on their final meet of the season. Daveon Jordan in the 110 hurdles, Kalon Bynum-Smith in the 800, Tarell Jackson in the 400, Nick Jones in the 1600, and Joelle Howard in the long jump.

Congratulations to the boys track team that finished eighth at the big 12 conference Malik Johnson won the long jump Cam Gunn won second in the high jump and Malik took third in the triple jump. We also had two great runs in the mile as Jayleon Williams and Nick Jones each ran a PR.

A HUGE thank you to the Gunn family. Cam’s parents treated the team to pizza, sandwiches, chips, desserts, and everyone left full and ready to compete at the Big 12 Conference today.

In a non-traditional meet, the Peoria boys track team traveled to Bloomington High School for the Bloomington Relays. Many of these events were in an all-relay format, giving the team to try something new.”
The field events popped up. The long jump relay of Malik Johnson, Joelle Howard, and Kobe McNutt took first as a relay. All three placed in the top-10, while McNutt, who has only long jumped for six total days, clutched a tenth place overall.
In the high jump, Johnson led Cam Gunn and Dan Ruffin to a trio of jumped that topped 6-feet to claim first as a relay. The triple jump crew of Johnson, Howard, and Damarion Taylor took third.

On Friday, your lions competed at the Williamsville Invitational. After winning the city, we decided to mix and match a few new events for our guys.
Cam Gunn took third in the high jump while Joelle Howard finished fourth in triple jump. Fenix Foy took third in the 110 hurdles. Charles Barnes finished sixth in the pole vault to cap all of the awards.
Kenzy King topped over 100 feet in discus and then had the whole arena hyped with his performance in the 100 meter dash.
Jameir Griffn and Kobe McNutt had solid debuts in the long jump. Kejuan Allen and Kenny Armstrong ran the 300 hurdles with Kejuan breaking 50 seconds for the first time.
We got out right before the rain hit. The bus ride was all smiles and it was nice to have straight up fun on a Friday.

2 for 2!! The Peoria High track team is champions once again. The team braved the rain delay, late night, and WON THE TONY THORSEN INVITATIONAL at Dwight High School.
The team was paced by several first-place finishes. Melvin Jenkins took first place in the 100, 200, and helped anchor the 4x100 relay, joined by Frank Flowers, Christian Hannah, and Titus Wyatt. Jumper Malik Johnson was THE MAN in running and jumping. After the 4x200 was disqualified for bad handoffs, Malik STEPPED UP in the 400 meter dash to get third to get six points back, while also jumping to a victory in long jump with A NEW PR of 22-feet-10 inches, while also placing third in the triple jump.
Cam Gunn was victorious and hit state-qualfying height for a fourth time this season in the high jump. Dan Ruffin, THE FRESHMAN, was second in high jump to get us 18 HUGE POINTS. Joelle Howard was huge in the jumps as well with a fourth place in the triple jump and fifth place in the long jump.
Moving to the hurdles, Fenix Foy double medaled with a third place finish in the 110-hurdles at 16.00 flat, with a fourth place finish in the 300 hurdles. Charles Barnes ran a new liftime PR in the 300 as well with a 45-second finish.
Distance men, were AMAZING. The 4x800 relay of Nick Jones, Kejuan Allen, David Miles, and Jayleon Williams captured fourth place and ran a new season PR of 9:47. Meanwhile, Jayleon ran the 1600 and ran a lifetime best 5:15!
And a final shoutout the HEAVY MEN. The 4x100 throwers relay of Kendrick Owens, Amaree Williams, Deandre McCloud-Smith, and Trace Branch placed second overall. That D-Line for the boys of fall was MOVING!.
Fellas are back at it on Monday at the All-City meet. Results are below:
