We made a of a drum sizzler mount and it works pretty well! I love putting a drum key on my snare and letting it fly all over to get the rebound hit, but it always flys off the drum eventually, and I wanted to experiment with different textures, so I sketched this out, and Brady and I built this rig. I love that the sizzlers can fly high and not fly off the drum!!
It sits on 2 lugs of any drum, the width slides so it can work on any snare or Tom and the height is adjustable as well. This is the first sizzler bar I made, but the idea is that we will make different textured sizzler chains for different sounds and dampening levels.
Let us know what you think of this drum and if you want to try your own, or If you think it’s a good idea.

is ... I get self-conscious to post... no time signature, more catharsis, drumming like this is my release. My heart races after each take, pretty good workout. I realize how much Zach Hill has inspired me as a drummer. Again, nature is and
I love playing in 7/8 time...why? I had really bad obsessive compulsive disorder, or OCD, in my teenage years, so much that I went to another school and was in full and partial hospitalization for anxiety and depression and the OCD. I wouldn’t be the deep person I am today without these struggles, and I am grateful for what I went through at the time, but the challenges were immense, and If anyone struggles with these I am happy to talk, as they will always be an ongoing challenge, though they are more and more managed and can be used for good...And another benefit is this, playing in 7/8. My OCD combination was 1,2,3,4 1,2,3... I did everything in that combination, over and over, to the point where it would take me 2 hours to get dressed in the morning because I was repeating tasks in that sequence on a broken repeat, a broken record. Painful as hell at the time, but now makes counting in 7’s feel so natural. I write music in 7 a lot, and this is a I play in my one I’m releasing on my upcoming . Also, I finally made the connection of where to put the damn hi-hat with the left foot also, when I was recording some Latin percussion instruments for this part. I was placing a Cabasa on the 5th count of every 7...and my brain my the click, that’s where I can put the hat. It’s hard to find the “upbeat” in 7 because the middle of the phrase is really 3.5, but this feels right with an upbeat flavor.
