Come on Delaware. Early voting is still going on from today until Sunday. 7a-7p. Started last Friday. No excuses. Let’s keep our freedoms. Women of any color and black me , we had to fight for the right to vote.
If you can’t make it during these dates, I’ll see you at the Ballot box Tuesday November 5.
It’s crucial.
Fast facts:
August 18, 1920 the 19th amendment was ratified and some women got the right to vote.
Most Black women and men didn’t gain suffrage until the Voting Rights Act of 1965; (hasn’t even been 100 years)
2013, the Supreme Court struck down a key provision of the Voting Rights Act, ruling 5-4 in Shelby v. Holder that it was unconstitutional to require states with a history of voter discrimination to seek federal approval before changing their election laws. In the wake of the Court’s decision, a number of states passed new restrictions on voting, including limiting early voting and requiring voters to show photo ID. Supporters argue such measures are designed to prevent voter fraud, while critics say they—like poll taxes and literacy tests before them—disproportionately affect poor, elderly, Black and Latino voters.
The Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution (1868) granted African Americans the rights of citizenship. However, this did not translate into the ability to vote. Black voters were systematically turned away from many state polling places. Even after Congress passed the Fifteenth Amendment in 1870, states still found ways to prevent black men from voting.
Did you know that they are illegally removing citizens from the voter roles in several key states.
It’s not about black and white it’s about morals, our constitutional rights as people, understanding the levels of government, and understanding all the stakes.
I’m not here to tell you who to vote for. I mean y’all know who I voted for. I’m hear to tell you that although you vote on a machine that’s still your voice your vote matters, Every vote counts.
2012 had the highest Minority voter turnout ever, more than 66% of votes cast where African American and Latino voters. And yall know who was RE-elected that year. Our first Black 2 term president.
Trump didn’t cut those Covid checks, congress did. But he had his name put on them. So a**l.
Trump received a strengthened economy which took 6.5 years to fix once our President at the time worked hard to revive, and with Cheetos tax cuts he tripled the deficit. But we the middle working and lower class citizens pay a higher tax percentage rate. And the deficit remains because when Trump made those tax changes he set them to expire in 2025.
So here’s what we know. Uncle Joe couldn’t change most of them unless he is still in office next year. He is not running but Kamala is. If the Cheeto gets re-elected he plans to renew those cuts and further increase the deficit.
Just saying understand government and tax laws before you start to spew incorrect info.
