While there are no “must-do” techniques, identifying the trade-offs of each implement that you use is a helpful way to make technique decisions. For example - as discussed in the video - using DBs is a great way to load the bottom 2/3rds of a press, but not a great way to load the top 3rd. Using a cable is a great way to load more of the total range (including the last 3rd), but has the trade-off of not loading the bottom proportionately as much (although you could set it up like the force of a DB). Neither option is “better” in absolute, but rather more contextually appropriate based on what you’re trying to get out of the exercise and what you have access to. Both of these options are complementary (at least, in the way that I’m demonstrating to set them up) and I do both for this reason. 10/13/2023
