New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson plans to play in Game 1 of the NBA Finals while wearing a brace on his hand after undergoing surgery on his broken right pinkie finger.

Knicks coach Mike Brown told reporters Friday that Robinson had surgery on the finger.

It was not clear exactly when Robinson was injured, though Brown said the center was not injured during Game 4 or in practice.

The Knicks declined to give further details about the injury.

Cleveland Cavaliers general manager Mike Gansey finalized a multiyear deal to become the new president of basketball operations for the Philadelphia 76ers, his agent, Bret Just of WME Basketball

Gansey, who has risen through the ranks in the Cavaliers' front office since joining the team in 2011-12, now lands the top executive position in Philadelphia.

Bob Myers, the 4 time NBA championship architect of the dynasty Golden State Warriors who now serves as president of sports for Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, led the search for the 76ers' new head of basketball operations after ownership made the decision to part ways with Daryl Morey.

Myers will work closely in partnering with Gansey and assist in his vision for the organization.

The Steelers have fired senior special teams assistant Derius Swinton II for a violation of club policy on Friday.

Though the Steelers declined to provide the exact violation, Swinton, who was hired as part of new coach Mike McCarthy's staff earlier this year, was dismissed due to workplace misconduct.

Swinton did not return a request for comment.

Prior to his brief stint in Pittsburgh, Swinton worked on the Las Vegas Raiders' staff from 2023 to 2025 and was the interim special teams coordinator last year. He was the Los Angeles Chargers special teams coordinator in 2021 and has spent time as an assistant with the Arizona Cardinals, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Rams.

New York Giants wide receiver Gunner Olszewski went down Friday during OTAs with a noncontact injury that the team fears is a torn Achilles tendon, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Olszewski, 29, is undergoing further tests to confirm the injury.

The veteran receiver went down and immediately grabbed at his right leg late in practice. He was slamming his fist in disgust as he was being carted off.

"That was a noncontact change in direction kind of a deal on the grass there," coach John Harbaugh said. "So that was disappointing."
