Hello everyone. Jacob Fitness is no longer active, and no longer exists on the West Coast. I will post some interesting fitness facts, exercises and thoughts from time to time, but there will be no more exercise classes in Santa Monica.

Happy May Day everyone!

Only 30 days until Memorial Day - it's time time get in shape for the summer!

Best practices to examine:
Cardio for 20-30 minutes 4x a week, weight resistance training for your total body 2-4x a week, and eating small meals balanced with carbs/proteins/fats every 3-3.5 hours throughout the day, drink at least 8 glasses of water and 12 if you exercise or sweat a lot.

Being "In Shape" is a lifestyle - so if the above actions aren't in your lifestyle today - then take a look at what you are and are not doing, and start bridging the gap.

Tip of the Day: Cold Season version - if you feel yourself getting sick drink more water and liquids. When you get sick your body temp goes up, so you use more water to cool. If you don't drink enough water, you get dehydrated and your immune system weakens and slows.....and how else is your body fighting the cold? Work out your immune system, by drinking water, eating a LOT of healthy foods, and sleep when sick, and you will be back working out in no time!

Weekend Conference could derail me with my nutrition...but instead I planned ahead - each day dried apricots, dried mango, an apple, 1 oz of mixed raw nuts, beef jerky for protein, a Powerbar Harvest bar, and peanut M&Ms (believe it or not they are a low glycemic food). When you know you won't be able to eat regularly, pack snacks, and plan ahead to win your day with nutrition!

Tip of the Day: Recover from a hangover.
Alcohol is a diuretic that makes your body lose water, your kidneys and liver need water to process alcohol.. So rehydrate w/lots of water, use antioxidants to rid your body of toxins, and eat something salty so your body can actually retain some of the water - thats the reason people say eat junk food..Sodium! Follow this tip and feel better!

Andrew's Tip of the Day: Try doing more of the little things to lose weight, park farther form the building, vow not to take an elevator or escalator for a month, eat an extra serving of veggies per day. Little things add up fast, 100 calories burned per day takes 10 lbs of fat off of you per year!

Our 6 week weight loss program last year helped people lose 8-25 lbs at a time! For 6 weeks, participants got exercise and nutrition information, fitness classes and nutrition seminars. They learned how to cook, how to order at restaurants and how to live life to the fullest while being healthy!

Go online to your favorite restaurants websites and look up the nutritional content of 3 meals. Find a meal hat has the lowest fat and sodium in it...now you know what to order to stay on track for your goal! HAPPY FRIDAY! See you tomorrow at 10am for saturday morning workout by the beach.
