Some of you may know I have been being working on an initiative to resurrect the Philadelphia International Cycling Classic, formerly known as the USPRO Championships (1985-2016), a project that began three years ago sparked by the demise of American road racing, the inaugural Maryland Cycling Classic, and the pining of nostalgia left by the final edition of the race in 2016.
It’s been a long road, mostly uphill, of passion, persistence and perserverance. With the unyielding support of Race Director Robin Morton co-owner of g4 Productions, and the formation of Race Street Partners along with my associates Eric Robbins and former Mayor Michael Nutter I am happy to announce the official launch of the Philadelphia Cycling Classic p/b AmeriGas Propane. The announcment was made last week at City Hall with Mayor Cherelle Parker, city officials and invited guests.
The race is scheduled for August 30th, 2026.
We have a year to go to get professional mens and womens teams from all over the world back on the streets of Philadelphia, and a lot of work to do! Looking forward to seeing you on the Ben Franklin Parkway, The Wall or Lemon Hill next year!

I feel privileged to give back to the community and the HRC has been a great way to do this.
Promoting the race provides not only riders the opportunity to race in a welcoming and embracing atmosphere, but it exposes criterium racing to the masses and brings people together.
The HRC also acts as a pass thru of sponsorship dollars and entry fees to support local organizations.
I am pleased to announce a check for $5,000 has been given to the Riverton Police Association. The RPA is an extension of the Riverton Police Department utilizing funds to engage with the community in a variety of public events.
Over the past fourteen years the HRC has disbursed over $70,000 to the local community!

Another year of the Historic Riverton Criterium in the books! I’m so thrilled to be embraced by the community and the huge show of support from everyone.
Special thanks to all the sponsors, mostly all local, who provide financial backing to promote the race.
I cannot thank the hard working crew from the Public Works Department enough for making the town look beautiful, and of course all those volunteers that show up on race day to make it all come together.
The staging crew make it so easy, they’ve got it down to an art. The registration crew that engage with each participant. The marshals who take time out of their day to ensure the course is safe, the police department and all the other people who lend a hand!
The spirit of community rings true, and I’m proud to call Riverton my adopted hometown!

The best little big race in a small town is back for the fourteenth time!
Save the date and register to showcase your talent in front of friends, family and the awesome residential community of Riverton.
This year’s race will benefit the Riverton Police Association. This non-profit provides the opportunity for the police department to engage with the community in a positive and engaging way, i.e., ice-cream cones with a cop, bicycle safety training, supporting the food pantry, local schools and the Special Olympics.
We’ve also added a non-binary category, along with the same categories as in years past.
Don’t miss the action!

To me, Freedom Corner, as I coined it many years ago, represents so many things; one of them being the privilege we have to ride and race our bikes here in America. The flag flies embracing our commonalities and celebrating our diversity collectively unifying us for the greater good.
Hopefully on your next ride you’ll take a moment to reflect and enjoy what being on the bike represents for you!
