Ever since the inception of Rebels, CEO Amrinder Romana has always promised that Rebels will be the blend of young talent along with veterans. His desire and love for the game has always helped groom young, inspiring and talented cricketers at Rebels. To name a few promising youngsters, Imran Mazhar, Waqas Shah, Hayat Khan, Burhan Saeed, Hamza Rana, Saqib Jutt and Waseem Jutt.
This year has been no different. Amrinder Romana’s dream of supporting young cricketers is on full display in Greater Philadelphia Cricket League (GPCL) and Cricket League of New Jersey (CLNJ). Soripul Islam, the young 15 year old pacer who is blessed with great skills, has taken the GPCL by storm this year. His performances this season have earned him a lot of accolades as he continues to impress game after game.
It is all due to Amrinder Romana’s efforts and the entire Rebels Organization for providing Soripul Islam the platform to bowl alongside some of the top pacers in Reynard Leveridge, Paul Wintz, Darwin Christian and Gavan Brown. Amrinder’s efforts to also provide Soripul with a certified strength and conditioning coach in Baber Agha Hussain has ensured his on-field progression.
With Soripul Islam, Amrinder has once again provided a top young player in our area. He is by far, one of the brightest upcoming talents and the best youth player in our area.

We had the pleasure of playing alongside a gem of a cricketer and a very respectful young man this season. Maaez Veqar scored 434 runs at an average of 62 runs a game with 4 fifties in 10 innings for the Rebels in the 40-over format. He was also a handful for the opposition with miserly off-break bowling picking up 14 crucial wickets at the right time and an absolute asset in the field. Playing amidst a line-up filled with big hitters, his first 15-20 runs went almost unnoticed before all the bookish strokes came to full display; the sublime turning of the wrists towards mid-wicket, the immaculate cover-drive or the occasional devil-may-care, yet calculated, lofted straight-drive. Belligerent but with caution, confident but with humility and above all, Maaez is just a stand-up guy. We wish him the very best of luck in his future endeavors.

Rebels Cricket Club would like to welcome Liam Plunkett to the Philadelphia Cricket Fraternity. A regular fixture for the English National team for much of the past decade, Liam has had a prolific First Class and List-A career to go along with 13 Test and 73 ODI caps for England. Once again the Rebels Cricket Club and Amrinder Romana have delivered on the promise of bringing premier talent to the area. A genuine fast bowler at the very highest level, I am confident that the up and coming batters and bowlers, trying to make their own mark in our cherished sport, will be respectively challenged and inspired by his presence.

On an overcast Sunday morning in South Jersey, Rebels beat Planet by 7 Wickets in under 2 hours. Planet won the toss and inexplicably elected to bat first in overcast conditions with a slight breeze flowing across the ground. The decision to bat proved wrong in the very first over, after a couple of loud shouts for leg before Khalil was able to sneak one through the opener's defense which would later on become a familiar sight. It was a scintillating display of swing bowling at express pace and at no stage did any of the batters look like they were even close to deciphering the great fast bowler. Khalil was firing on all cylinders and ended up with 8 wickets, 5 of them bowled, for a miserly 11 runs from 7.4 overs. Planet were eventually bowled out for 39 in 18 overs. Rebles overhauled the requisite in under 6 overs with a couple of early hiccups mostly because of complacency.
