Steelworks Strength Systems is a strength and conditioning facility located in the Brewerytown neighborhood of Philadelphia. We currently offer Group CrossFit and Personal Training, but will soon be adding dedicated Olympic Weightlifting and Bootcamp programs (late spring 2015). No matter the program, Steelworks Strength Systems is committed to improving the health and well-being of men and women of all ages.
Prior to coming to Steelworks, Tessa had gone the uber cardio route with Orange Theory and the DIY fitness routine at Planet Fitness.
The results weren’t showing up and the training environments were less supportive of success. She wanted to push herself more in the gym, but didn’t feel safe trying new movements or challenging herself with heavier weight as she didn’t have the knowledge on how to perform the movements correctly.
Living in the neighborhood, she had walked by Steelworks a few times and noticed people working out, but in a much different way than she had. She hopped on our website and eventually booked her free trial.
Her workout challenged her to move differently and at times she found herself getting frustrated.
But folks in her class were incredibly supportive and her coach, Brian, was very patient.
She knew that Steelworks would be a place where she could push herself without judgment, at her own pace, and not have an expectation to lift a certain weight or move at an intensity too high for her own good.
Flash forward a year and change, and Tessa has seen some great success: she’s been able to kick to a handstand, is ever so close to getting her first strict pullup, and has added 40 pounds to her squat clean! She feels amazing and has been able to do things she hadn’t done since college.
Most important are the things that have changed outside of the gym.
Training at Steelworks “impacts how I walk through my day, being comfortable with failure and trying new things. Because the program is so welcoming, it’s ok to not do well. I’ve been able to apply this success:failure i.e. growth mindset to my regular life and job,” said Bailey-Findley.

In case you missed the news, Steelworks Strength Systems is now hosting LIVE online workouts that you can follow from the comfort of your own home every Wednesday and Friday at 5 pm.
The sessions are open to anyone of any ability and free. (Donations are welcomed!)

A timely book for strange times…. Been reading this one off and on for a few months now. This book grounds the reader with (among others) skills of mindfulness, compassion, and spiritual self-care, three desperately needed items to help persevere through these days of solitude and fear.
