You may think ignoring postpartum symptoms only affects your physical health, but the research suggests otherwise.

When your body doesn’t feel supported, strong, or predictable, it can start to impact how you see yourself too.

And so many moms are silently navigating that while being told leaking, pressure, constipation, pain, or feeling “off” is just part of motherhood.

It doesn’t have to be.

One of the things I’ve learned through working with postpartum moms for years, is that body image isn’t just about aesthetics. Sometimes it’s about trust. Confidence. Feeling comfortable in your body again.

I wrote Active Mom to empower you with information and step by step guidance, including 3 chapters on core training and educating yourself on the role of pelvic floor and how to handle common postpartum conditions. If you read this far, take the next step and get the book (bio link).

The most impactful thing I did for her fitness was to take care of my own. And research proves it.

It’s not just you being active that shapes your kids. Research shows being active with them (especially daughters), has extra impact. Children moved more and sat less on the days their moms moved with them.

Have you witnessed this too?

I was shocked how weak more core felt after pregnancy. In retrospect, I shouldn’t have been. I’d undergone a major surgery and my body adapted to a growing human for 40 weeks.

If you’re struggling to regain core strength after pregnancy, you’re not alone. Whether active during pregnancy or not, intentional core training is essential for all moms

The good news is that with a step by step, focused approach you can regain strength, possibly feeling stronger than ever before because you’re finally training your abs the right way.

For more guidance, see the article on the blog.

Caution around breath holding during heavy resistance training came from theoretical risk, not evidence. Research now shows us that using the breath-holding technique during heavy lifts isn’t harmful to your baby.

I cue exhaling in exertion to help manage the pressure on your core, but you don’t need to fear how your breath impacts tour baby if you choose to use the valsalva maneuver.
