Sometimes the hardest part of working out is knowing where to start…

🤔What should my weekly workout split be?

There are many variations of deadlifts, but they all share the same foundational movement: The Hip Hinge!

If your form is correct, then the weight will come! In this session, I worked up to one heavy rep:

✔️225lbs
✔️245lbs
✔️265lbs
✔️285lbs
✔️305lbs

Keep in mind everyone’s “heavy” is different & it’s all about form!

The diet and weight loss industry wants us to overthink everything when it comes to food. That’s why it has grown to be a $71 billion industry.

95% of diets fail.

If you’re trying improve your overall health, a fad diet isn’t going to fix it and neither is the gym! 🤯

You can work out for hours, but never see “results” because you aren’t properly fueling your body.

A couple of things I live by when it comes to food:

✔️Eat like you want to stay out of the hospital
✔️The best supplement of all time is your diet (not pills, powders, or other marketing schemes)
✔️Eat when you’re hungry and stop when you’re full
✔️Focus on healthy proteins, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and avoid processed sugars
✔️Be consistent

Today marks my last day at Green Zone Fitness. It was such a pleasure to work with them for the past 3 years. If you’re in the Glendale area and need a gym, I wholeheartedly recommend Green Zone! Ryan and Sara have created a great community and space for training. 

With that being said...

🙌 I am beyond excited to announce that I am now fully independent! 🙌

Last week, I got a massage from ! 🙌

And let me tell you, massages are not just for relaxation (although that is an appealing aspect), but they are amazing for recovery! 💆‍♂️

Antonio is experienced in deep tissue, Swedish, hot stone, lymphatic drainage, and cupping. He’s passionate about helping active people feel their best, and I am thankful for his services. 🙌🙌🙌

Recovery is absolutely necessary in every training/workout program. It allows for the body to heal itself, improve performance, reduce the risk of injuries, and countless other benefits.

Reminder: You don’t have to go to a super fancy gym or use a ton of equipment to have an effective workout. You also don’t need to cram 20 different exercises into one workout!

This workout consisted of:
💪5 rounds
💪3 different exercises
🤟Every 4 minutes I completed 50 Double Unders using a jump rope

It took me 27 minutes TOTAL!

❌Was this a crazy complicated workout? No.
❌Did it require much space? No.
✅Was it effective? Yes.
✅Did it leave me feeling great? Yes.

Progress doesn’t necessarily mean losing fat or gaining muscle. Sometimes progress can simply mean improving your form, increasing your strength, or building your overall confidence in the gym (and let’s be honest, life).

Progress literally means, “a forward or onward movement toward a destination.”

✔️The first part of the video is from January 12th. This was the first time my client had ever done a kettlebell swing. While we were still focusing on his form, there was definitely room for improvement. 
✔️He started at 25lbs.

✅The second part of the video is from March 30th. He is using his hips to drive the motion. Look at that form!
✅He has significantly increased his weight to 60lbs for 12 reps!!

💪That’s progress.

My client’s progress in just 9 weeks.. He’s down 10lbs and counting while gaining muscle 🙌!!!

COVID made him stationary and he needed a trainer who could work out with him at home. He wanted a trainer who could help him get results. I told him I could help him if he was willing to:
✔️Put in the work
✔️Fix his diet

💪He trains 2x a week with me, once on his own, and is eating clean foods to fuel his body.
