Sometimes we try to do ALLLL the things and take control of every situation in life.

Naturally, I am a fighter.

There have been sooo many times in my life where I have tried to be in control.

I try to control my surroundings because what I'm REALLY afraid of is Not being in control.

So, I allow fear and anxiety to govern my thoughts and actions.

Jesus has constantly been reminding me that He is the one who goes before me, my day, my week, and months. He is my provider and I do not need to be in control of my own life, when He wants to and is More than capable of being my Provider and constant friend.

The Lord will fight for you. You need only to be still

You are so Loved.

What lies have you believed about yourself or situations you have been facing throughout the past week?

Whatever that might look like for you, you are not alone.

You have purpose and meaning in life.

You are sooo loved.
Having the opportunity to play a role in the healing journey's of others around me is what it is all about!
I get the following question a lot.

Dr. Michelle. What do you eat? 🥡🍠🍑🥦🍳🍗

My answer is always the same.

“ I EAT WELL.”

Over the past 20 years, I have chosen to invest in the one body I have. And I invest in it well. I truly do believe the notion of “everything in moderation”

As a female, I have done it all.😩😤

I’ve done the strict caloric intake and fasting to fit into a pair of skinny’s.

I’ve done Paleo.

I’ve done AIP.

I’ve done Keto-ish.

Yada Yada Yada.

What I have found works well for ME is to be balanced. I eat Carbs, Protein and Fats.

And I’ll just throw this out there: CARBS are Not Bad. 🚫

Sometimes we need to look at the Type of carbs we ingest and how much in relation to our protein, fat sources and physical activity. 🏃🏼‍♂️

So, I eat well.

If you know me, you know I’m ALWAYS eating.

ALWAYS.

But, I eat things that give me energy instead of eating things that give me opportunities to feel sluggish.

If you have questions about nutrition, and what the CRAP 💩 am I supposed to be eating, DM me.

I would love to chat with you and connect you with who is also very knowledgeable in this area
What do I LOOOOVVVEEE??!!!

So glad you asked.

For me, it’s simple.

I GET to spend 1:1 quality time getting to know my patients and helping them move and feel better!

One of the core pillars of Abide Physical Therapy is:

Relationships.

📸
I came home.

This is my alma mater, Bethel University.
Bethel is much more than the school I attended for college.

Bethel is Home.

Secondary to , attending Bethel has greatly altered the trajectory of my life.
Most people define home as the space where they were raised as a child.

My definition of home is wherever the heck your heart and mind is at peace. To me, home is also where you’ve “found yourself” and where your family is located.

My identity used to be wrapped up in what others said about me or what I wanted people to think about me or how I wanted to be successful in life. While at Bethel, I began to learn more about how I was created and formed by Jesus and that my life had meaning, and that my identity IS wrapped in who Jesus says I am.

He says I am: Beautiful, filled with Power, love and a sound mind. He says He FRICKEN Adores me and is proud of me. Those are just a few.

At Bethel, I learned what it meant to “do life” with others and live in community. I learned that we were created to live in relationship with others and we are not created to be alone. At Bethel, I was given the most Amazing friends.

Words can’t even express how much my Bethel family has transformed my life. They are some of the most annoying (at times), God fearing, HILARIOUS, Joyful and Authentic people I have ever met.

They are my FAMILY.

Since Bethel, we have remained a family. We have had the opportunity to experience deep sorrow with one another, incredible Joy, and more laughs than we can count. I am honored to call my Bethel family mine for the rest of my life. I am honored to say I went to Bethel.

Bethel is not a perfect institution, but amidst all the imperfections, Bethel is my home because I learned how to receive and give Grace, immerse myself in community, understand what a friendship and relationship with Jesus looks like, and love others around me as best as I can.

Hockey.

I might live in the dessert, but I was raised around water and ice. Hockey is such a great sport for children and adults to participate in because it enhances power, balance, speed and so much more.

Growing up on ice has drastically transformed how I treat my current athletes and How I will continue to remain an exceptional medical provider who understands the value of incorporating all aspects of physical medicine and rehabilitation to enhance an individual’s health and functionality.

Back Pain.

When you or someone else you know or love has back pain, it’s Nothing to Mess Around with.

Back pain is miserable, AND scary when the underlying root cause isn’t evident.

Ask yourself the following: Is care being provided from an exert?

The evidence -based research for the treatment and management of Lumbar pain states best practice includes mobilizations and/or joint manipulations (manual therapy), activation of certain muscular groups through strengthening and endurance based exercises.

Now, of course other treatments can be implemented into a patients care and depending on what my patient’s need, I incorporate those.

If you have been challenged with headaches or migraines, reach out to Dr. Michelle!

Abide Physical Therapy is proud to highlight Tony this week. Tony, you are an absolute brainiac, good friend, and extremely talented bachata dancer!

Proprioception.

Ever heard it it?

It’s a fancy dancy word meaning “ one has the ability to feel what is going on in their body, hands or feet. By sensing what’s going on in your body, you are then able to respond to various stressors placed on the body.

One of the reasons why all my athletes have programming designed around proprioception is because it allows them to be THE BEST.

All my athletes are THE BEST because they are challenged outside of their areas of strength, stability, and comfort zones.

If you have balance challenges, would like to enhance overall strength and stability, reach out to schedule a time to connect with Dr. Michelle!

Shout out to Abide’s Athlete of the Week for always being an Amazing Friend, Real estate broker, and Father!
