Greetings everyone!

We’ve been diligently working behind the scenes to bring you an exciting Spring 2024 season. We’re still in need of a few volunteers to help facilitate play. If you’re interested, please reach out to us via DM or contact our commissioner, Jimmy Davis.

Get ready to kick off our Spring season with open play on Feb 5th and 12th at Steele Indian School Park at 6pm!

Registration for Spring Season 2024 opens on Feb 5th at 6 pm. Don’t miss out!

Don’t forget our mandatory Captains meeting is February 12th at 6pm at Indian Steele Park.

Join us for our delayed Winter Banquet on Feb 17th at Boycott Bar from 2 pm to 4 pm.

Also, mark your calendars for the Saguaro Cup Volleyball Tournament on April 13th and 14th – registration opens on Feb 5th. It’s a multisport LGBTQ+ tournament you won’t want to miss!

Meet your PR Lead

Evan is a fairly new resident of Arizona, originally born and raised on the east coast. You can find him hiking different trails around the valley or drinking palomas by the beach.

Evan currently works for a global Aerospace Engineering and Design firm managing projects in Asia, Europe, and North America.

Evan is engaged in a number of different non-profit organizations, local LGBTQIA+ recreational sports leagues, and is team captain of Fourgy, which plays Tuesdays in the 4-person division.

As head of Public Relations, Evan hopes to shed light on the importance of LGBTQIA+ representation in sports.

Meet your Commissioner

Jimmy Davis is a musician, entertainer, entrepreneur, teacher, and public servant. Jimmy is the owner of Jimmy Davis Music, LLC a full service performing arts company that offers both educational and entertainment services. Jimmy not only teaches general music, voice, piano, and musical theater, you can often find him gigging as a vocalist, pianist, event host, DJ, karaoke jockey, or show host.

In addition to his work in the arts, Jimmy is elected to the City Council in the City of Tolleson, maintaining that seat since 2020. Jimmy’s policy work focuses on equity, inclusion, and utilizing the arts to heal communities. Jimmy also serves on the board of directors for the West Valley Arts Council, and Tolleson Trust Coalition.

Jimmy has always been fueled by a passion for music. His mission is to share the healing gifts of the arts. That extents from his work with Jimmy Davis Music through arts education and entertainment, to his policy work on the City Council and beyond. Jimmy oversees the Tolleson Initiative for the Arts where he works to brings arts and culture to not only Tolleson but the southwest valley as a region.

Jimmy has a deep love for community. Working to create a safe, nurturing environment for all. He has introduced ordinances in Tolleson that protect the LGBTQIA+ community and communities of color, through nondiscrimination ordinances and a crown act ordinance. Jimmy also continues to work in the space of substance abuse, affordable housing, and food equity. He works to create communities that work for everyone.

As AZGV Commissioner Jimmy hopes to create a positive, inclusive space for all. He is the team Captain of Practice Safe Sets a team made up of primarily his family, which plays Mondays in the 6-person division. Jimmy has an open door policy and is always here to listen and grow with all of you. Feel free to reach out to him with any questions, comments or concerns.

Hey y’all! My favorite volleyballers!

I/We are very aware of the conditions of the sand. I have been trying to get injury photos from players so I can build my case to get the sand at Steele Park completely removed and have all new beach sand put down. Please give us/it a rest. I am working on it. If y’all can please send me pics. I will be sending the email July 5th after the city and parks people are done with the chaos of the 4th. But nothing will get considered from the parks/city untill after July 9th, when their fiscal year starts.
