This beautiful sunrise started my day. It was a lot redder than my camera shows. Most stunning.
Then Red and I took a three hour ride. The first two hours were with friends and he jigged the whole time. Granted, we had not ridden in three weeks. The first week was because of bad weather; high winds, cold and just generally nasty. The second two weeks was because I was in bed with a respiratory infection.
We went our own way for the last hour and he settled down. In the meantime, he had worked himself into a real fit, tossing his head and slinging lather. He gave himself a bloody nose when the rein hit him. I LOVE MY HORSE SO MUCH!!!

The day started out great. Sunrise and the moon. And continued to be great with a three hour ride on my steed, Red. I am exceedingly lucky to live on my Happy Hart Ranch in the midst of the Arizona desert.

It was a beautiful morning for a ride. Thank heaven because it lasted a lot longer than I planned. My 33 year old horse thought he should be getting back to the feed bucket after about 30 minutes so he started jigging. And kept it up for the next two hours. Lucky Me! To have such a spirited mount at my age. I mean his age. Lol!

I was truly blessed to see this wonderful herd of burros on my way to Mass on Sunday. Widen the picture out. Baby out front with mama and grandpa standing away from the group.

Mr. Quail is on the lookout for Mr. Roadrunner who is only looking for a drink of water. I feel so fortunate that I can witness wildlife in their natural settings.

With summer "mostly" behind us, I have to think about next summer already. I am going to upgrade my solar system so I can have a few more hours with air-conditioning. Using a gas generator, I could only have four hours a day.
So, I have to put my beautiful old high-back saddle up for sale to help pay for more solar. This saddle is probably from the 1930 or 1940's. I bought it from Vaughn Boyd's Antiques in Custer, South Dakota. Had it refurbished to be ride able and enjoyed it immensely. At one time, it was displayed in my family's home. It is too heavy for me now. Asking 800.00. Will throw in the handmade saddle rack.

Wow! It has been so long since I posted. My excuse? It was so hot! And I'm off grid so this past summer was especially difficult for me. Now, however, it's not so HOT. Red and I have been going for some morning strolls and we have loved it. Come join us. I have plenty of space for your rigs, water and an incredible Arizona desert to explore.

My good friend, Tishree, brought the red Arabian to me earlier this week. His name is Red. He is 33 years old. Tishree brought him back from the brink of starvation. His will to live is incredibly strong. Red is a very special Horse. Thanks, Tish!

This is a scene that Marcel and I came upon a couple of days ago. When I first saw it, I immediately flashed back to the times of my life when everything was Sooo tough. Everything lost, all at once. Got through it though. The beautiful cactus won't.
