Have you heard of cat yoga? Introducing beloved animals into the room can help boost your clients’ moods. The graceful nature of a cat and its soothing purr can help create a relaxing atmosphere. Your students can enjoy the practice while making a new furry friend!

Glow yoga is for those who enjoy a more active atmosphere. Yogis paint parts of their bodies with glow in the dark paint and wear glow sticks around their wrists and ankles. Then, the party begins as they practice yoga in a dark room with the help of a yoga instructor and a DJ.

The Yoga Phoenix Watermelon Club has a successful day of delivering watermelons in the community.

Eating watermelon before or after a workout will aid in hydration and help provide energy. It also contains potassium, an important electrolyte lost in sweat. What's more, watermelon has an amino acid called l-citrulline, which may diminish muscle soreness.

The Shiva/Shakti Gong Experience balances the polarities of masculine and feminine (sun and moon), opens the door of the Infinite to all and brings absolute calm and healing on many levels. We have been playing together for more than two decades and our gongs are truly "partnered gongs" that love to flow together with many energy gifts for all. Sometimes we play together and then we move into a style known as "call and response" where first one gong plays and then the other one plays.

Sangeet plays the Paiste Symphonic Gong that opens the heart to the Infinite Pulse that recovers everyone from pain, worry and anxiety and release old and new patterns of emotional distortion. Chakras, energy fields and meridians are opened throughout the Symphonic play. Hari Nam plays the Paiste Jupiter Gong which brings prosperity, balance and peace, removing blocks and helping all to rediscover their innate human potential.

Dear Yoga Phoenix Community,

While we continue to explore ways to share the great benefits of Kundalini Yoga and Meditation with you during social distancing and pandemic times, we encourage you to try this kriya on your own at home:

Kriya for Pleasure and Happiness

Since 2013, the United Nations has celebrated the International Day of Happiness as a way to recognize the importance of happiness in the lives of people around the world.

In affiliation with 3HO Foundation International, a UN NGO, we are joining the movement to spread the word about happiness through Kundalini Yoga and meditation.

Try this kriya for pleasure and happiness and remember, unlike toilet paper, smiles are free and you can't run out!

Kriya for Pleasure and Happiness

1. Sit with legs stretched straight forward. Bend forward from your lower spine and grab your big toes. Keeping legs, neck and spine straight, raise both legs up high. Hold the position for 3-11 minutes with long, deep breathing.

2. Stand up with the fingers interlocked and place them on top of the head. Raise the left leg so that the left thigh is parallel to the floor in front of you. Bend the left knee so the foot is pulled back towards your right leg. Breathe long and deep for 3 - 12.5 minutes. Change and stand on left leg for 3 - 12.5 minutes. Then return to right leg for 3 - 12.5 minutes.

3. Stand with the feet shoulder width apart. Bend from the waist placing the hands on the feet. Arch the head and back up into cow pose. Eyes remain open. (If you become dizzy, discontinue.) This exercise balances the circulation. Breathe normally for 1.5 minutes. Then, in the same position, begin pumping the navel area powerfully for 1 minute.

4. Sit on your heels. Interlock the fingers behind the back and pull the arms back, opening the chest area, and bend forward. Place your forehead on the ground with the arms stretching up 90 degrees behind your back. Breathe normally for 4 minutes.

In times of pandemic, the best thing we can do to protect ourselves is keep a strong immune system.
Yogis are known for taking responsibility for their own health and well-being as much as possible. There are lots of yogic tips and tools to choose from when it comes to immune support and protecting ourselves from dis-ease, like kriyas for immune strength, disease resistance, cleansing and digestion; and diets and recipes for healthy digestion and elimination.
Immune health begins in the gut. Try a 40-day kriya or clean up your diet with conscious food choices. Use the tools of the Kundalini Yoga lifestyle to develop your shield of radiant health and well-being.

Sat Nam,

Due to the heightened level of concern surrounding the corona virus, including new guidelines from public health officials to minimize gatherings of 10 or more people, we have decided to suspend in person classes at Yoga Phoenix effective March 17th through March 29th. As yogis and healers we feel a strong responsibility to engage in the practice of social distancing in order to minimize the spread of this disease to the most vulnerable among us. We will re-evaluate the need for ongoing suspension of in person classes as we approach the end of the month.

We are exploring opportunities to make some classes available through streaming on our page.

Please note, 40 day passes, monthly autopay class passes and annual unlimited memberships will be suspended until March 28th when we will re-evaluate. Class passes do not expire.
