In top of all the other things to do, pay attention to the shoulder.
Index the shoulder to reach the elbow
Sure, we tend to look at the opponent's sternum in order to see a change in structure which we can use to indicate an attack. If you index the shoulder (whic...

That technique I just showed...Are you sure that's what we're training?

You can go quite far with just a palm change.
In FMA, sometimes you can get away with just flipping it.

Training on Easter Sunday 4/17/22. Don't let the rattan fool you, Eskrima is a bladed practice, not stick fighting. Matter of fact, it's gotta be bladed or we wouldn't be able to skin and quarter the Easter bunny.

Sunday 4/3/22. I heard somewhere that Sunday is the last day for a fun day. To make up for the fun, we started class with our "rope drill" followed by a little of our "fencing drill" and then regular practice. If anyone training with us yesterday doesn't have sore legs today, they didn't train well.

Class on Sunday, 2/6/22. I have a "bad" tendency to bloviate on occasion, especially if a question hits a particular subject upon which I may have been ruminating or listening. To put a cap on my rant from Sunday, don't bother going through innumerable repetitions in order to develop muscle memory. It doesn't exist in that manner anyway.

Excellence in training is a choice but it takes effort to achieve. Mediocrity in training is also a choice and also takes effort. As practitioners, since we're going to put in effort anyway, the difference is in the choice we make and, more importantly, being aware of the fact we get to choose.
