Maximum Pilates

A locally-owned, private Pilates studio with expert instruction and training. Maximum Pilates is a private studio where our clients can learn the Authentic Pilates Method in a relaxed and positive environment.

Classes are offered by appointment and the instructors will always try to be available to our clientele at any time that is convenient for them. For the first-time Pilates student we offer an introductory package of two private sessions. During these two sessions we discuss with our client their personal fitness goals, as well as sharing some basic knowledge of the Pilates movement, theory and vocabulary. We also spend time showing the client how to safely use the Pilates apparatus and offer any personal modifications in movement mechanics to tailor a program to fit their needs. The instructor takes this time to really get to know the client’s needs and then we create a plan for you.

Operating as usual

How are you all doing? How are your goals coming along? It's sometimes hard to stay on track when our world gets chaotic. Don't forget to pause and reset when you need it. Remember to take time for YOU!

It's that time of year again...the time of year when you wonder what to do with all of those pumpkins. Here's one of our favorite healthy pumpkin soup recipes from The Seasoned Mom. ;-)

Let's talk about breathing. One of the best things we can do for our mental wellbeing is practice focused and intentional breathing. In a chaotic world, we tend to forget about breathing right, and this tends to add to anxiety and stress. Harvard Medical offers the following tips for mindful breathing to lead to better health.
1. Find a peaceful place where to sit (or lie down) comfortably and quietly.
2. Don't try too hard. That may just cause you to tense up.
3. Don't be too passive, either. The key to eliciting the relaxation response lies in shifting your focus from stressors to deeper, calmer rhythms — and having a focal point is essential.
4. Try to practice once or twice a day, always at the same time, in order to enhance the sense of ritual and establish a habit.
5. Try to practice at least 10–20 minutes each day.

Let's check in with each other. Who needs a boost? How are you doing on your healthy goals? Mind and body both need to be exercised. Let's get at it - and support one another. We believe in you!

Think you drink enough water? Take this test for a week and see how well you do. Mark a drop for every 8-oz glass. Remember, it's hot out there - welcome to Arizona fall heat. You can get dehydrated a lot faster than you think. Hydration is one of the most important things you can do to support your physical and mental health. So, drink up!

Finally! Phoenix area evening temperatures are feeling more like fall. That means it's a great time to start catching up on those steps! Remember, though, it's still hot most of the day. Wait out the peak times of the day, enjoy those sunsets and sunrises, drink plenty of water, and take a bottle with you! We're always here to help you stay healthy. Be well!

Enjoy your friends and loved ones (safely and distanced) and appreciate the hard work done by so many for us all.

Health experts recommend working these five elements into your fitness routine to maintain good health:
- aerobic fitness
- strength training
- core exercises
- balance training
- flexibility and stretching
All principles in practicing Pilates. If you are trying to find a routine that works for you and have questions, don't hesitate to ask. We all need a little help to keep moving. We got you.

We like to talk a lot about goals in here. And our own goals are important! But to get to the tops of our mountains, we all need a little help sometimes. Give someone a boost - show them how it's done or encourage them on their journey. The goodwill will come back to you!

Nothing takes the sting out of 110+ degree days like a little juicing! A great way to boost your metabolism and give your body the nutrients it craves, juicing can also be a fun activity that takes advantage of some of the season's tastiest fruits and veggies! It's hot outside! We're seeing record temps this month. Even if you're not outside often, this weather can zap you of hydration. Drink and drink often! Here are a few more tips from your friends at Maximum Pilates.

What is self care? You may be hearing this term a lot lately. But what's it all about? The essential rule of self care is really simple - allow yourself the indulgence of doing something for YOU! There are a lot of things that can boost your mental health and help build separation from life's stressors. (We all know this world is full of stressors right now.) Pilates is a great way to spend time on yourself - your body and mind and goals. But self care can also be as simple as a morning tea under a shady tree, a favorite book, a nightly uninterrupted bath, or baking. For more on self care and mental health, visit Active Minds, a non-profit info tank aimed to lend importance to focusing on our own mental health. Take care of YOU!
