I was part of the six week challenge and crushed it with the help of the Sparks CrossFit staff. I was able to lose 23 pounds and 6% body fat. My personal coach that helped me with my meal plan, encouraged and supported me throughout this whole experience. Brandon Bailey and Abby Murphy continued to teach me what needed to do to strengthen my CrossFit skills. I am so glad for the opportunity to complete a challenge with Spark CrossFit. P.s. be prepared to buy new clothes.
Just completed my 6 week challenge and it was such a great experience. Highly recommend checking them out. All the members were awesome and the coaches really took time to make me feel at home and push me at the same time.
It was a great experience. I had no knowledge of CrossFit before joining the gym. Sam and the other staff worked hard to teach me how to properly do the exercises so that I could build muscle while reducing the risk injury. Sam and the other coach would go out of their way to give me personal instructions if I didn’t understand something. Overall the best experience I’ve ever had at a gym.
I have been to other Crossfit boxes and Spark has actually helped me reach my goal. I LOST 5.4% body fat in just 6 weeks. Having a meal plan available along with the HIIT training Spark provides = actual results! If you have the motivation and will join this Gym...you won’t regret it! 🤗
I joined Spark CrossFit for the 6 week challenge. I was determined to get healthier and I did. I lost body fat and gained muscle. Spark CrossFit wants to help you help yourself. The workouts were intense but the coaches were knowledgeable about how to scale the workouts to best for your level. They were patient and really cared. Spark Community Fitness (formerly Spark CrossFit) is a fitness facility in Phoenix, Arizona located on the borders of Tempe and Scottsdale. We were founded in early 2014. We are conveniently situated near the 143 and 202 freeways near the business hub of Tempe. We are an 8,500 square foot facility, one of the largest in Arizona, with two rooms one of which is home of Phoenix Barbell Club, a USAW sanctioned barbell club and programs for all levels included with your membership here at Black Storm. When you walk in to our facility you’ll see many bodies in every different phase of their fitness journey. Though we are the training home for many elite level athletes, you quickly notice that it’s NOT all six-packs and feats of remarkable strength here. You’ll be surprised to learn that 90% of our members are folks who DO NOT have a lengthy fitness history. Some of them have been with us since we opened in April 2014 and have become very fit individuals since, some are in their transition and some are just starting out. Reaching a higher level of fitness is our passion, our staff is deep in credentials and fitness experience from group coaching, to one-on-one personal training, to team building, to goal setting and competitive sport. At Spark our team is passionate about fitness and getting our community fit no matter if you are a competitive level athlete or someone brand new to the fitness world.

Big things happen in small place.

Moments, the small fragments of time that make up our days, months, and years. In a perfect world, we are soaking in every moment, no moment squandered.

But in reality, urgency can easily become our focus and we lose touch with what is really important. Our attentiveness to these fragments of time starts flying by and before long we wake up and ask ourselves, “where has the time gone?”

Urgency and busyness are lonely companions. They can cause us to think we are traveling this life alone. They can cause us to miss the beauty of what is around us, our sole focus is on what is next. But we are not alone, and there is definitely beauty to be found in every moment.

The take away:
💡Focus on the small moments. Be present, and absorb the beauty of them. Find comfort in consistently working hard, and being there for friends and family in the everyday mundane. After all, every action you take is a vote for the person you want to be.

In fourth grade I took 1st place in a regional chess tournament. The trophy was as tall as I was!

We have already committed to this full rebrand, we are just awaiting Facebook to approve out request to update our page name.

Here are 4️⃣crucial ways to boost 💪🏼your immune system, and stay healthy by putting your body in a better spot to fight off Covid-19, and all other viruses🦠

1️⃣STAY ACTIVE
Exercise is a powerful way to boost your immune system. It causes your body's antibodies and white blood cells to circulate more rapidly, which means they may be able to detect and zero in on bugs more quickly. Being active this way also lowers stress hormones, which reduces your chances of getting sick.

Research suggests that exercise's effects may be directly relevant to virus fighting, too. According to a recent study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, of 1,002 people surveyed, those who exercised at least five days a week had almost half the risk of coming down with a cold as those who were more sedentary. If they did get one, they reported less severe symptoms.

2️⃣CLEAN EATING
"Eighty percent of your immune system is in the gut, so when it's healthy, we tend to be able to fight off infections faster and better,” says Yufang Lin, M.D., of the Center for Integrative Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic. “When it's not, our immune system is weaker and more susceptible to fighting off infection.”

We recommend a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and healthy fats, found in foods such as fatty fish, nuts and olive oil. “This eating pattern is high in nutrients such as vitamin C, zinc and other antioxidants shown to help reduce inflammation and fight infection.

4️⃣GET ENOUGH SLEEP
Your immune system is like a computer — it needs moments of rest so it doesn't become overheated. Sleep reboots the system. When you're sleep-deprived, your body churns out stress hormones like cortisol to keep you awake and alert which can suppress your immune system. People who got a full eight hours of quality sleep had higher levels of T cells than those who slept less, according to a 2019 study.

4️⃣STAY ON TOP OF STRESS
There's a strong link between your immune health and your mental health. When you're under chronic stress or anxiety, your body produces stress hormones that suppress your immune system.
