Today's Fit Tip: Don't let the weekend ruin your week of hard work

Give this weekend workout a try:
10 burpees
20 reverse lunges
10 pushups
20 bicycles crunches
10 triceps dip
Complete as many rounds as possible in 15 minutes.

Todays Fit Tip: EAT YOUR BREAKFAST

Did you know that skipping breakfast is more likely to cause weight gain instead of weight loss?!

We hear to many time;
"I don't have time to make breakfast!"
"I would rather sleep an extra 15 minutes and pick up breakfast along the way"
"I am not hungry in the morning"
"I am too rushed in the morning to make breakfast"

STOP IT! Eat your breakfast!

Benefits of Eating Breakfast:
-feel more energized
-Improved concentration and focus
-weight control
-metabolism boost
-controls hunger for the rest of the day
-prevents over eating
-Helps lower bad cholesterol

Todays Fit Tip: DRINK MORE WATER

How it benefits your body:
-It helps you burn fat and promotes weightloss
-It's 75% of the brain
-It flushes out toxins
-It decreases fatigue
-It regulates body temperature
-It increases the production of new blood and muscle cells
-It prevents constipation
-It helps our organs better absorb nutrients
-It helps prevent join pain and arthritis
-It treats and prevents cellulite

Tips on how to increase your daily water intake:
-Use a straw
-Buy a cute water bottle
-Set an alarm every hour
-Spice it up with fruit
-Drink 1 cup before every meal
-Everytime you go to the bathroom, drink 1 cup
-Drink 2 cups right before bed
-Compete with a friend
-Buy a 64oz bottle and finish it everyday
-For every non-water beverage, drink 2 cups water

Todays Fit Tip: DON'T SKIP MEALS

When you skip meals your metabolism slows down and you are not buring calories like you should.
Your body thinks that you are starving so when you eat again, your body stores away more than usual, resulting in more fat.

Instead of skipping meals, try consuming 4-5 small meals a day (3 main meals and 1-2 snacks in between) to ensure that your metabolism continues to burn throughout the day!

If each individual employee can AVERAGE 11,000 steps per DAY for the remainder of the challenge...WE WILL SUCCEED!

DONT SKIP YOUR SQUATS
•they burn more calories per rep than almost any other move.
•great for building lower body strength
•improves mobility and balance
•prevents injury
•improves running performance
•helps leg muscles work more efficiently making daily activities easier to perform

🔹stand with your legs slightly wider than shoulder width apart and your toes pointed outward, keep your back straight and eyes looking forward
🔹slowly bend your knees to a ninety degree angle so your thighs are parallel to the floor.

We are almost there…I can see the finish line to the weekend.
We all might need a little extra coffee to push us through BUT did you know coffee is LOADED with healthy benefits?!

Benefits of 1 cup of Black Coffee:
-Provides extra energy for exercise
-Can boost metabolism
-Is known to increase mental focus
-Great source of antioxidants
-Reduces risk of cardiovascular disease and certain cancers
-Can elevate energy levels and reduce depression

Tips:
-Stick to black coffee. Sweeteners and artificial creamers are the main culprits that give coffee a bad reputation

Do not let your office work stop you from being active during the day!

Sitting all day increases your risk for:
Obesity
Back Pain
Leg Cramps
Poor Posture
Tense Muscles
Boredom

Add these office chair/ desk exercises to your daily routine: 20 repetition & repeated 3 times: Multiple times throughout the day
-Seated Squats
-Desk triceps dip
-Desk Push-ups
-Seated in and out abs
-Seated/standing Marching

Additional Tips:
Stand up and move around at least every 10-20mins
-March in place or perform jumping jacks
Take the stairs rather than the elevator
Utilize the treadmill work station (located in the athletic building)
