I remember during my journey, so many people told me not to weigh myself every day. They had no great rationale for what they said. And I had great rationale for how it helped me. I listened to my own voice and...to this day....i still weigh myself daily. It keeps me honest.

WEIGHT LOSS: I used to offer weight loss coaching. I had success with a couple of clients but the overwhelming type of client I got were the kind that buy gym memberships and never go. They’d pay me so I made money but I never cared about the money. I wanted to help those who needed help. I was fortunate I had a friend, Christine, who was there for me when I needed help. Bottom line: weight loss is about making lifestyle changes...especially—but not exclusively—to eating habits.

Unfortunately, there is no way you can burn enough calories through exercise to make up for bad eating habits. An unhealthy diet contains foods that are high in calories and low in nutrients.

I LOVE #3 on the meme I’m posting.

When it comes to weight loss, it’s about changing habits to make a new path forward. The way we chose to eat should reflect the way we want to look...long term.

Dieting isn’t a “until I get to ‘x’ weight proposition. The habits we create while changing our diet should resemble the new habits we want to take with us into the future even after the “diet” is done.

LEVATOR ANI SYNDROME:

Recently, I had the opportunity to help a client with a rare, but debilitating, condition known as Levator Ani Syndrome. I'll be honest, when the call came in, I really was unclear about the exact issues associated with this condition.

I treat clients all the time for tight quads, hamstrings, neck issues, psoas conditions, so when a unique issue presents itself, it takes some understanding of the body to be able assess and determine a path for treatment.

I did my research before the client came in and after understanding the manner in which muscles operate within the pelvic floor and the mechanisms within the bodywork scope of practice, I was able to educate the client and at the same time provide much needed relief for his condition.

I followed up with the client afterward by text and thought I'd share his feedback with you. It's work like this that confirms I'm doing the work I was called to do.

Not all client needs are the same. Each client has specific issues that oftentimes, don't lend to a particular massage "routine." While most clients can benefit from a sports-specific routine, you have to be flexible enough to recognize when special attention is required.

I only had two hours to work on the client's issues for this particular bodybuilder. And with only 2-hours to work with, we prioritized the issues to be worked so that we could ensure we hit them all, so to speak.

I love being artistic in the bodywork I perform. This session was very special to me.

Just remember, inform your therapist as to your needs. The massage session is for YOU, the client. The therapist is only there to provide the expertise to deal with your issues and facilitate your desired outcomes.

A MARATHON SUCCESS STORY:

I've been working with a client who has attempted two marathons but was never able to complete one due to various issues; one of which included a muscle seizing up. We determined the source of the muscular issues and worked on his diet, hydration, and stretching pre/post/during runs.

Today, he successfully completed his first marathon in 3:13. Very impressive! So glad I was able to play a role in helping him reach his goals.
