End of your "Hope Rope"?

Have you ever been at the end of your “hope rope” feeling as though you’re hanging on to the last thread and still can’t find the hope you’re looking for? Yeah, me too.

When you feel helpless, depressed and stressed out, there is still a thread of hope left. So, hang on with all the strength you can muster!

Google suggests that we become Self-Aware: to look at your patterns and work on changing what you can; Self-Care: resting, exercising or simply praying; To Trust in God who will help in your time of great need. Matthew 5:3 suggests that when we are at the end of our rope, you’re blessed because with less of you, there is more of God and His rule in your life.

Along with these suggestions, I would add the value of getting with others who can encourage you, cheer you up and cheer you on. In my book, ‘Actitude: Actions and Attitudes of a Positive Life’, I wrote about my ‘Daily 5’ that helps me when I feel I’m at the end of my “hope rope”. It doesn’t always provide the answer you may want, but it could get you closer to the answer you need. Here are the questions:
Learn - What am I learning? Who am I learning from?
Live - How is what I’m learning changing how I’m living?
Lead - How am I leading myself IN this so that I can help lead others THROUGH this?
Love - Do I love what I’m experiencing and who I’m experiencing it with? If not, why?
Legacy - What am I doing today to shape my future?

The ‘Daily 5’ are good questions to help us look inward to keep moving forward.

While we are at it, look for ways that you can encourage and affirm others. Everyone needs an ‘atta-boy’ to keep going. There’s no way we can give others too much encouragement. In the act of encouraging others, you’ll be encouraged, too. Whether it’s a word or an action that you use to encourage others, you’ll find that helping others actually helps you just as much.

So, Hang on tight to your “hope rope” and keep yourself and others moving forward.

The Hero Builder!

Worth a Million Bucks

It was soon after my 2nd brain surgery in 2018 that I attended a networking event in Albuquerque, NM. When I was asked to share a little about myself, I said, “I’m worth a million bucks, and it’s all in my head”. I had to explain that a surgery like I experienced typically costs a lot. It is also due to the many lessons I’ve learned through these and other experiences I’ve endured in life. Lessons like perseverance, determination, consistency, , reliance on family and others, courage, mindset, commitment, grit (the ability to keep moving forward), who you let touch your brain and many more.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is - Who you let touch your brain matters! Sounds funny, doesn’t it? But, it’s very true. It matters simply because it determines who you become and your outcome. You’ve heard it said that you are the sum total of the 5 people you hang out with the most. Who you hang around is who you become.

The brain surgeries I’ve experienced could’ve turned out a lot different. But, after researching and referrals to Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, I had 2 of the world’s best neurosurgeons (Dr. Spetzler and Dr. Lawton) that worked with me. Because of them, I don’t have any present concerns. So, who you let touch your brain really does matter in a surgery and in life.

Don’t check your brains at the door and let just anybody touch it. Align your life with those you look up to, that can speak into your life, encourage you with words and actions, equip you with the right tools to succeed in life and through accountability, empower you to become the best version of yourself that you can be. Who you let touch your brain/mind really does matter. You’re worth far more than a million bucks.
