MisFitz Yoga

Strong bodies, calm minds, free spirits. Yoga and Barre can be for EVERY body. MisFitz Yoga is a youth yoga program which helps children develop coordination, cope with stress, and cultivate inner strength.

Through music, movement, stories, and short meditation practice, children grow more confident in their physical abilities and skilled in finding their focus. We use imaginative play and asana practice to help children feel strong, clear their minds, & develop happy hearts.

Today was the last of the virtual classes that I've been blessed to help keep me busy over the last 18 months. I'm so grateful for the purpose and connections technology has provided during the pandemic. Definitely out of my comfort zone, but we will never experience growth w/o challenge. As exciting as it is to begin something new and move on to new endeavors, there is also the grief of leaving a piece of your self behind. I have been blessed with a new opportunity to work full-time as a Victims’ Advocate. Therefore, this will be my last week teaching yoga virtually with you all. I am so grateful for all you have shared with me in person and online. Your participation in yoga classes that I have taught has been a gift of connection and purpose for which I cannot adequately describe. My hope for all of you is that you continue to grow in yoga, in breath, in purpose, and self-care. I will still teach yoga in person at the Christown YMCA for anyone locally looking to reconnect. Namaste❤️

#Blessed Not going to lie, this has been a tough week reflecting on one year since the world changed and Covid brought a whole new set of worries, fears, challenges & frustrations. Walking this morning in the beautiful spring sunshine, I prayed. This afternoon I was blessed by this beautiful and perfectly timed card. I miss you ALL SO MUCH and our times together stretching, strengthening, laughing and sharing. You ALL are a gift to me—thank you for sharing your light and making my world “lighter.”

Although this is the meditation for tomorrow (5 Minute Daily Meditations by Sah D’Simone), it really spoke to me. We are nearing the 1 year anniversary of when the world seemed to shut down and drastically change. However you are feeling today or this week, choose to give space to thoughts that remind you that you are worthy, we all are.❤️🙏🏻😊

[02/22/21]   Intention: Self Compassion—forgive yourself yesterday’s challenges and reset with the breath. Everyday, every breath is a new beginning.

Breath: Sit tall, long spine, soft belly. Rest your hands palms up in a cup shape, fingertips touching like you are scooping water. Close your eyes and visualize your hands filling up with beautiful flowers and abundance. Take 10 deep, full belly breaths. Even out each inhale with each exhale. Each inhale, receive with pristine clarity beautiful flowers. Each exhale, release the burdens, the worries, the fears, the anger. Inhale and receive/reflect on the gift of this moment.

This week in yoga: Yin yoga has been described as the gateway to “a life filled with more relaxation, greater mindfulness—and less stress.” Who is not up for that?!?!? Yin yoga poses/stretches are not all that different from our regular poses; however, yin centers on holding stretches longer focusing on the deeper connective tissue (ligaments, tendons, and deep fascia surrounding the muscles). I often warn students that the most challenging part of yin is quieting the mind enough to settle into stillness. As with all things yoga, the practice we are most resistant to is most likely the one we need the most😊. Listen to your body. Observe your edge. Go slow. “The pose is not the goal. Becoming flexible is not the goal. The goal is to create space where once you were stuck. To appreciate your body, to become aware of the noise of the mind is the gift of the present. Make peace with who you are. The goal is to love.”
