Sirens across Israel sound at 10:00 am, bringing all life to a standstill for two minutes of silent reflection. Schools, military bases, synagogues, and communities worldwide hold powerful ceremonies honoring the memory of the six million Jews murdered by the Nazis—and the countless acts of spiritual and physical resistance.

This day teaches vigilance, courage, and continuity. At FIMA, we carry the torch of memory not only to honor the fallen, but to ensure that “Never Again” is not a slogan, but a standing order to act against hatred, antisemitism, and moral silence.

These days include the recitation of Yizkor, a memorial prayer honoring departed loved ones—linking personal memory to national liberation. Liturgically, readings recount the miraculous splitting of the Red Sea and the final deliverance of the Israelites, symbolizing the completion of redemption.

📖 This unique Sabbath occurs during the intermediate days of Passover (Chol HaMoed), blending the sanctity of Shabbat with the themes of freedom and divine guidance from the Exodus. Special Torah readings, including the Song of Songs (Shir HaShirim), are recited, evoking themes of love, longing, and spiritual renewal.

Unlike regular weekdays of Passover, work is not permitted, and celebrants gather for festive meals, prayer, and reflection. This day reminds the Jewish people that liberation isn’t just a moment—it’s a process. Celebrated in Europe, the Americas, and beyond, this day is devoted to jokes, surprises, and clever pranks. Its origins stretch back centuries—possibly linked to the change from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar, when New Year’s celebrations moved from April to January.
