NCAA will appeal O’Bannon ruling | NCAA Public Home Page - NCAA.org

Cash should not be involved! You are opening a big can of worms if you do. People stand to make a lot of money if they can buy a player! How about anything to do with the education for free. From pencils, meals, transportation, books, living quarters, an extracurricular activities budget. If he/she needs it while in school, it's provided.

NCAA lost O'Bannon ruling, but all (collegiate model) is not lost

I hope it doesn't get to the point of having to pay players. Not that they don't deserve it, but the scales in the recruiting process will favor big schools because of their multimillion dollar recruiting budgets compared to the $500/year of the smaller schools.

www.usatoday.com When the news broke Friday evening — a federal judge ruled the NCAA had violated antitrust law by prohibiting athletes from being paid — Twitter blew up, just as you'd expect. The NCAA did not. Not yet, anyway

We Can Do Better

viewer.zmags.com I can't remember how it got to this so quickly...

[06/25/14]   Student-athletes should concern themselves more about their character than their reputation. Character is who you are, while reputation is what people think of you. Character will gain you respect, while reputation will get you judged.

[06/24/14]   As a travel athlete you will be spending a lot of time at showcases and tournaments. At these tournaments there will be many coaches evaluating student-athletes. There will also be hundreds of other student-athletes hoping to get evaluated as well. What have you done to stand out from the rest?
Are you really "hoping" they find you?
Reality--- Coaches go there with a list of athletes they want to evaluate they do not go there hoping to find an athlete.
