Ahwatukee Pool Lady

Servicing pools in Ahwatukee for over 30 years!

Operating as usual

[03/21/16]   We are often asked to determine if a pool has a leak when a customer gets a high water bill or sees a lot of water loss in a pool. Before calling a leak detection company we suggest doing a "bucket test" to determine if the water loss is due to evaporation or to an actual leak in the system. To do this test you must shut off the automatic water leveler to the pool if there is one. Then let the pool pump run normally for several days and put a 5 gallon bucket filled with water on the top step of the pool. Mark on the bucket where the water level is and using a ruler or a stick and s marking pen determine the distance between the pool water's surface and the top of the pool tile or bottom of the pool deck. After a couple of days check to see if the bucket of water and the pool have lost the same amount of water in which case the loss is just due to evaporation. Or has the pool lost more water than the bucket signifying that there is a water leak. You can check to see if the source of the leak is a break in the water leveler pot (located in the pool deck), or perhaps a bad o ring in the backwash valve, or above ground leaks around the pool equipment or in areas around the pool where pipes leading from the pool headed toward the pump area might be that may have broken or separated because the old glue job has failed at an underground joint. If you are unable to determine where the leak is you will need to call a company that specializes in detecting and repairing underground leaks.

[02/16/16]   My company may be new to Facebook, but I have lived in Ahwatukee for 30 years and since 1987, have been taking care of swimming pools for residents in this community. Over that period of time, we have established a clientele that can depend on our service. We have some wonderful customers and to all of them I am grateful! We strive to make their lives easier and their pools a place to relax and enjoy!
