According to US Lacrosse*, in 2014 there were 170,632 high school men's lacrosse players. Of the 707 total collegiate lacrosse programs in existence (NCAA, MCLA & JuCo), there are only 35 fully funded programs. NCAA DI programs have a total of 12.6 scholarships to give, DII programs have 10.6. However the average school gives 3.15 scholarships per year for a total of 441 total lacrosse scholarships available. The odds of any high school male landing a DI scholarship? 0.86%. Crazy stats, right? There have been a few Arizona players that have fallen into the 0.86%, which is awesome considering lacrosse is not exactly a premier sport out here.
The Hawks are not a typical travel club. Our players and coaches are just as competitive as any other, we just are not out to get our players recruited to play DI lacrosse. We are looking to give our players an exciting experience at tournaments, it's as simple as that. We are looking for players and families who love the game but don't want the intensity or cost of some of the other travel clubs out there. Want skills development? There are many excellent options to choose from in Arizona and any serious player will want to take advantage of those opportunities. Want to enjoy a unique experience at your next tournament and meet some new families and players? Join the Hawks and find out how much fun a tournament can really be!
