I'm super excited to bring another workshop/performance intensive to the 2026 Bayou Belly Festivale!
And I'll be vending
So come dance, chat, shop, and have a great time!
“Noir Nights: A Study in Slow Fusion Movement & Musicality”
Step into the smoky elegance of 1930s slow jazz with an Old Hollywood glam twist in this slow fusion dance workshop set to “Nightmare” by Artie Shaw and His Orchestra. With its slow, haunting melody, this piece invites you to embody sultry sophistication through controlled, fluid movement. We’ll focus on refined isolations, seamless transitions, and the art of stretching movement through musical phrasing.
The true challenge lies in timing and expression—where every gesture lingers, every transition breathes, and stillness becomes just as powerful as motion. Perfect for dancers looking to deepen musicality, control, and performance quality in a dark, glamorous fusion style. Come ready to slow down, listen closely, and embody the tension, elegance, and allure woven into this sultry piece.
An optional performance component invites you to bring this piece to life on stage in the Saturday evening show. Participation is completely optional—come to perform, or simply to immerse yourself in the choreography and cultivate deeper control, musicality, and presence.
This is a two part class. Part I is Friday at 1:00pm-2:45pm and Part 2 is Saturday at 1:00-2:45pm. Class price includes both parts. Performance in Saturday night showcase is optional.

Dancer's Wellness 💃
Like any athlete, being a dancer has its own requirements to maintain a healthy physical body. Add injury or other health concerns, and well… for me, acknowledging, being open about, and learning to live with health conditions is an ongoing struggle. This dance form has been so beneficial to me. Over the years I’ve learned tips, techniques, and exercises for working within limitations and healthy functioning. This workshop is part active (seated stretching exercises), part round table discussion (tips and tools I’ve learned over the years for staying healthy at festivals). Bring a tennis ball and an old sock, a notebook and pen, and your favorite tips!

Wow... joy, gratitude, and meaningful connections this last weekend at Bayou Belly Festivale. These beautiful dancers got gooey, bluesy with me in my "Healing Blues" choreography workshop.
It was a lovely weekend catching up with old friends and then getting to meet new ones (and I remembered to get a few photos this time!!! :) ) And Saturday had the honor of performing in the evening showcase ❤️
Grateful to Louisiana Belly Dance Association Friends for organizing such a fun event and to all the dancers and friends for being a part of this beautiful memory. Thank you Jerikaye, Nan'Kathrine, Cat, and all the other amazing members of the Louisiana Belly Dance Association! Until next time ❤️❤️❤️
P.S. If you missed learning this choreo, you can join me Shimmy on the Colorado October 2023
