We are just as excited as everyone else about the new recreational area at Fort Buhlow Recreation Area, but we want to remind the public that the area is still under construction and is not yet open for use.

Weโ€™ve seen videos circulating of individuals already discovering the new area, and we were also contacted today regarding locals accessing the property. While we completely understand the excitement, construction is still ongoing, and the area must remain closed until the project is fully completed and officially opened.

This new addition is going to be a wonderful asset to our community, and weโ€™re looking forward to everyone being able to enjoy it! Until then, we ask for your patience and cooperation in staying out of the construction area for everyoneโ€™s safety.

It wonโ€™t be much longer! We canโ€™t wait to see the finished product and enjoy it together as a community. The Red River Waterway Commission has invested a tremendous amount of time, funding, and effort into making this project a reality, and we want to make sure they have the opportunity to see it through to completion.

Weโ€™ve waited this long, letโ€™s hang in there just a little while longer! It will be well worth the wait.

additional photograph will be posted in the comments so everyone can see the progress.

We want to remind everyone that the Ward 9 Sports Complex has six excellent pickleball courts that are open to the public! Weโ€™re glad to see more people taking advantage of the facility and enjoying what our community has to offer.

Our lights go off at 11:00 PM, and with the recent influx of raw athletes coming to play, we wanted to remind everyone of a few things:

๐ŸคบWe know sports can get competitive. Tempers can flare. But itโ€™s never worth ending up in jail over a game of pickleball.

๐ŸฉShowing your buddy you can do donuts in your dads truck? Cool trick but not worth going to jail.

โš’๏ธTearing up property that doesnโ€™t belong to you? Definitely not cool and definitely not worth going to jail.

๐ŸขGot a Turtlebox speaker that can shake the windows? Thatโ€™s neat but remember, thereโ€™s a residential area not far from the courts, and sound travels.

๐Ÿš”We will be making extra patrols of the area, and anyone who violates the law will be held accountable. If your kids are going to the complex and you arenโ€™t there with them, please make sure they understand the difference between right and wrong and the importance of respecting the facility and the surrounding neighborhood.

We know what playing pickleball means to a regular civilian. We have no idea what it means behind bars.

Long story short: Enjoy the courts. Enjoy the competition. Enjoy our community. Just make good choices.

You may have seen the social media posts circulating recently that games are being moved to Thursday nights. Many of those posts cite a shortage of officials as the reason for the schedule change. Unfortunately, that is the reality we are currently facing; not just locally, but state and even nationwide.

It doesnโ€™t have to be this wayโ€ฆ you can help! Join today.

We will continue to take new registrations until August 18th. Come to the Pineville High School library tonight 6:00-7:15 to learn more!
